Boss changed my job then told me to resign.

So I work in a warehouse role doing forklift driving which consists of picking orders, putting stock away, loading/unloading trucks, that kind of stuff. I come in the next day and they tell me not only did I not do enough in the role, but I would be doing it for the whole week.

I said that I will be going home then and my boss told me I have to write a resignation so I did.

Is this legal for them to change my role completely and then tell me to resign when I don't cooperate?

I am in Australia for reference.
