I work for a pretty large promotional product distributor on the east coast. I get paid pretty well for the job which is about $22.50 but there were a few things I didn’t know when initially taking the job.
Every program in the company gets 1 account manager per million dollars in sales. This program pulls in about two million a year, but we are the only program that a majority of our work is all manual entry rather than online. The program I manage is me and one other person who doesn’t know how to manage the accounts I do, so if I am sick at all (which I have been) I am however days behind on work I was out. It is getting increasingly busy recently and both me and my coworker are behind over a week of work. Since the program began, our boss has been told this is not a two person job and a third was needed. We have continued to tel him this for months now. We had a meeting with a customer who was upset because their orders are behind and aren’t able to get quick responses and we continued to get grilled about this even though we had told him.
I put in my two weeks notice on Monday and got a job offer for my same salary plus 3% commission and opportunity to travel.
Sorry for the rant I’ve just been pissed about it.
