I've been working as a machine operator for a small (no union/HR) manufacturing company for almost 4 ½ years and my total tenure for this company is around 6 ½ years. Today, I asked my production line partner to give a note I wrote explaining politely what problem I'm having with the machine to either the foreman or the owner. I usually NEVER do this but did this time because I wanted to avoid getting falsely accused of something verbally and didn't want my presence to aggravate them. My partner comes back and tells me the owner wasn't happy with the note. 5-10 minutes pass and the owner comes storming to the back of the warehouse and starts yelling, “DO WE WORK FOR YOU!? twice. I look at him confused and say, “huh?”. He then proceeds to call me a fcking ignorant ashole, tells me to use my words and finishes with, “nobody is coming to help you.”, & “fix it yourself or you can get the f*ck out.” My partner comes back from break a half hour after the incident and informs me the owner & foreman were insulting me behind my back in the break room and that they said what I did was disrespectful. The rest of my day was ruined and my eye wouldn't stop twitching until I got home. I'm having trouble stomaching what happened and understanding how I was disrespectful. Any advice would be appreciated.
