A bit of a preamble.
My apprenticeship is about to end. I have been learning in a small telekommunikations company that has been having problems getting extra workers. After talking with my boss about continuing to work there I offered a standard / low rate for the certifications I will have (around 3700 a month, starting salaries go up to 5500).
He was not happy about the offer, stating they could not afford it. So I offered him reduced work hours so that they wouldn't have to pay as much or lower pay for work from home and flexible work times. He agreed to the lower work times (he is a controlfreak boomer and hates work from home for some reason). He also wanted to stick me with a temporary contract for god knows what reason.
In the meantime I scouted around passivly and got two good offer for 3800 a month with good prospect for delevoping further skills.
Fast forward two weeks, I finally get the proper job offer from my boss (an entire week late btw) and it was horrendous. 2800 (barely enough to survive in the area I live in) for the same amount of work time. I refused his offer and he started to berate me about how delusional I am for wanting more and how I will miss the freedom of the company (there is none to speak of) or how I will not be able to get more money (I have 2 job offers with more). He then changes gears and goes on how he wants me to work for another company and I have his blessing to do so. After about 15 min of monologing I get up and leave. He didn't even ask me what I didn't like about the contract.
I just don't understand how someone can be so blind to the world around them. He is the CEO, shouldn't he realise by now how hard it is to get technicians?
