Boss is a cheapskate who has dumb excuses

Work at a shitty restaurant. Shithole has a hard time retaining people unless they are in bar or server. Kitchen manager, we will call him JL, is pulling up resumes and pulls one with extensive experience, even went to culinary school. JL goes to General Manager, we will call him KS, about this resume. JL says new hire wants $18 per hour. KS says “no”; faster than I ever heard him say no, ever. I inquire for what reason are you passing on this guy, this guy has more experience than half of kitchen combined. KS says new hire needs room to “grow” and that hire came from New York, so no $18 per hour. What the fuck is room to grow? That sounds so fucking capricious I become flabbergasted on how dumb that answer was. I start trying to ask more questions about that reasoning. I get interrupted by…

I feel like I might get fired for “attitude” but I cannot stand stupid fucking capricious decisions.

KS may be desperate for hires. But god forbid they pay $5 more dollars per hour. No wonder people show up high and they can’t retain people.
