Boss is asking me how long of a notice I will give – told him to f off in the politest way possible

I'm currently in a position where I've let me job know I'm leaving at some point in the near future – They would've been able to figure it out so there wasn't really any reason to hide it. Also I really don't care that they know. I'm currently waiting for one final life-related detail to get confirmed and then I can gtfo. I'm currently in a Lead Engineer role with the majority of my time assigned to this one, heavily neglected by previous project teams and management, end customer delivery project (value in the $100s of millions-range). The reason the company is not getting rid of me is because I'm a critical resource that have the key knowledge of the product we deliver and how to actually deliver the end product to a customer.

I currently have no timeframe for my resignation and have told so to my boss. My boss is now starting to indicate that he's getting nervous – earlier this week I was in a call with my boss and the person he will assign to take over after me (who has no clue about the product we deliver – GLHF!). Again I repeated that I have no timeframe. All of a sudden the guy that's going to take over after me asks me if I'll be giving a two week notice when I plan to leave. I kept it professional and just repeated that I don't have a timeframe (who tf is this guy to even ask a question like that?)

Later during the call my boss now asks me what type of notice I'll give because it might help him take a decision to either transition me off now already or later. My project managers of course want to hold on to me as long as possible because they know they're going to be screwed when I leave. Here is where I start to lose it. I again repeat that I don't have a timeframe and that this is the wrong time and place to even discuss things like this. Furthermore I told my boss that the decision to transition me off now or later is his job and responsibility – I do as you tell me. Stop asking me this question and take a goddamn decision already. Haven't heard back from him since…

I feel like asking an employee how long of a notice they'll give is not strictly kosher. Again – I'm in no position where I want to be kind and help my employer, they can eat a fat d!ck. I'm planning on giving a two day notice at the end of a Wednesday when I'm finally able to do so.

Anyone else had a situation like this?
