My boss (45m) is a manager for both myself (25f) and my coworker (55m). They were ok to work with – i did experience a lot of micromanagement and diminishing of my skills. I have a masters degree in my field and yet I was subjected to doing data entry work by my coworker who likes to act like my boss. I handled it and worked just fine but knew the second this dynamic was at play I was going to find a better job. But anyways… my boss and coworker were talking about the problem of social media and attention spans. I thought it was interesting and turned to join. After a while, my boss goes “well This is my opinion so don’t get offended, but I think all these problems started in the 1960s when women decided to leave the home. Divorce went up and families fell apart.” My coworker agrees and I am just sitting there silent. I literally almost laughed at the absurdity.
I didn’t say anything (I’m not confrontational at all) which I do now regret. I can’t believe he had the gull to say that to his female employee ?? Let alone aloud at all. It’s made me rethink every joke he’s made about blaming me when things go awry. Oh shit no those were jokes… you just hate women.
Well ! I found a new job 🙂 and I put in my notice on day 2 of his vacation 🙂
