My new boss/owner of the company has been shorting hours purposely for about two months, diddnt notice at first because we diddnt have access to paystubs, but when my paycheck was the exact same (to the penny) 3 checks in a row I knew something was up. I started asking the other manager/employees if it’s the same for them and sure enough it is. Then, he told us that “from now on, I will be charging each employee $100/month to accept tips to cover cc processing fees” so I looked up what the law was and the law states he’s only suppose to charge what our cc processing fee is on the tips, and that 100 a month is about 25% of our tips (on a good month) then I finally got access to the paystubs and noticed that he’s clocking me out at 8:00 on the dot every day (which is the time the store closes) but after 8, I have to sweep, mop, count the till, put the money in the back, send him a picture of the end of day, then close out the till, turn out all the animals lights (work in a reptile shop) and then clock out, normally I’m not clocking out till 8:15-8:20. I’ve already contacted the labor commission, but I’m wondering if there’s anything else I should be doing about this. Out of 9 total employees he’s slated to lose 7 of them, and out of the two left one might also be quitting. Thank you for reading this long ass text wall.
