So I put in my 2 weeks notice and my boss was very unprofessional/immature about it. I have been there about a year and a half now and I am a good employee.
When I handed him my letter of resignation he said “this isn't what we agreed on”…like wtf? Just because he has repeatedly asked me over the past year how long I plan on staying. In response to that in the past I said that “I will be here until I graduate” but I didnt promise it. And what was I supposed to say? Like that I plan on leaving sooner than before I graduate? Then he would have fired me. He said he gets that people do things for themselves and we only care about ourselves and called me selfish. He Said he does things for us but we don't appreciate it. I said “yeah your damn right I care about my career. I have been in college for 7 years and it's what I want to do for a career and it pays a lot more than this job does so no I'm not passing it up would you pass your dream job up that you went to college for 7 years for ???” I Said “do you think I am burying myself in student debt for fun?” He didn't know what to say. Then he Said he was disappointed in me.
I said “you know I thought you might be happy for me, I have worked so hard for this and it is my dream career.”
Then he said sarcastically that he was happy for me. I said “no your not” and then I Said “whatever, it is what it is” and left his office.
I am just appalled by his behavior and I think it is unprofessional but I also expected him to react this way because I've seem him act like this before when someone quit. He straight up ignored them for 2 weeks.
So yeah this is going to be an awkward 2 weeks…
