boss told me to lie about hours (advice?)

Please don't tell me to quit or sue or w/e. I need the flexibility this job offers me as a full time stufent and I enjoy actually being challenged. Just looking for practical advice. Our (very) small company is owned by an old man. Everything centering around pay is very old-school. Hours are manually entered, pay stubs are handwritten and photo copied. The hourly rate isn't on the paystub. I just learned I never got the raise I was promised a year ago. My fault for not checking, I know. I'm supposed to be getting 18.5, I've been getting 15.5. I just learned I never got the raise I was promised a year ago. My fault for not checking, I know. I'm supposed to be getting 18.5, I've been getting 15.5. I told my boss I need to be at my promised rate and I either need compensation for what I've missed or another raise. We talked again and he said owner wouldn't do eany of those things. My boss said add an extra hour for every 4 you work, because the owner doesnt understand why he cant keep people staffed. I could easily do that, but it doesn't sit right. How would I go about getting a future raise? “Well actually… im making 19.4/hr”… If for whatever reason the owner learned I was adding time, I could be in a lot of trouble, and I wouldn't count on my boss to back me up. I doubt I will be able to get him to say that in writing. In the future I'll make sure to get everything involving money in writing, but what should I do for now?
