I work for a small IT company, and the other techs and i occasionally have to leave our home office to visit a second location not far away. The other techs i work with and i all have shared our personal cell numbers with each other, and have communicated via personal cell for years if we encounter an issue on the job, no issues have come about it.
This year business has picked up and we are on the road more. Suddenly our boss wants us to either install a messaging app called Slack on our personal phones, or have them order us a phone to use it on. It sounds suspiciois to me, so i said i wont put it on my personal phone, so my boss ordered me and multiple other techs one. We all have slack accounts for pc and no one uses it, so why are we all of a sudden supposed to have it on a phone? Are they using it to track our location?
Any info on how this app works is appreciated
