So for context I (22m) work at a powerwashing company. I’ve quit before because of shady stuff happening (raises/ bonuses not materializing) but was offered $20 an hour to return part time. Well I did and there was a lot of work for me to catch up on. I am one of the most productive of our team (5 people) and basically do any extra work that is asked of me. I didn’t really mind especially because work slows down during winter. Well a few weeks ago my coworker called me saying that he convinced the owner to let us plow snow under the company’s name. Well here starts the shit show…. When he asked me for help I asked what the pay was and he said I’m not sure yet I’ll talk to the owner more, but $25 at a minimum. Great! Then we were charged xx2.5 for the plow we got for 2 days (“snow fee” that no other company imposed) then my coworker drove the plow into a custom made garage door cutting one section prob 1.5 feet. There’s a ton more that happened but at the end I got a text saying that we did not have any profits so we were not being paid for it. Apparently the door was almost 3k to fix and the owner said he didn’t want to use the company’s insurance to fix it. Btw this was the weekend before I was leaving town for 2 weeks and was planning on using this to cover not working for that time. My manager offered to buy me some dinner as an apology… also apparently the owner told my coworker that we were being paid a % of profits but he never informed me.
