Boss’s true colors came out

Just need to vent, I'll try not to make it super long. I've been working at this job since last October, and I also have a second WFH part-time job. I don't know my boss well at all on a personal level, but up until now she's been respectful to me and we've had some pleasant conversations, and I didn't think she was a bad person by any means. This place is always short-staffed, the turnover rate is super high as it's very physically demanding and a tough job. The pay is not good at all for what I do, and I quickly realized it would be a temporary job or I would eventually cut back my hours and work somewhere else. I got a small raise after 3 months which still doesn't make it worth it by any means. I've been asked to come in a lot for extra…

I've been asked to come in a lot for extra shifts or my days off, and I've been generous with my time since I know we need the help, but if I was asked more often I would say no. She did recently ask if I could do some weekends and the third shift since someone else is quitting, but that's not happening.

I was supposed to be off today because I had a doctor appointment which wouldn't work with the shift hours and my other job. I also only like to do four days a week because I need a day off to have more time for the second job, so I was supposed to work Mon, Tues, Thurs, and Fri this week. After my shift last night, she says she might need me to come in at 9 am since there's no one else to do it, so far I wouldn't need to, but she'd let me know. I already said I had the appointment and it would be really cutting it close with the timing but I could maybe do it if left a little early.

She didn't text me all night so I set my alarm for 8 am in case she would text me in the morning about coming in at 9. I get up at 8 to a text from her at 6:28 am, “Good morning, can you come in now for the 6:30 shift?” She never said anything about 6:30 when we spoke about it the day before and she asks me at 6:28 expecting me to be available immediately with no notice??

I said, “Sorry I didn't get this till now. Do you still need me to come in now or at 9 or are you okay?”

She just said one word, “Now.”

I was seeing red. No please or thank you or common human decency. I'm always on time and didn't quit in three days like a majority of the people who just stop showing up without saying a word.

When she's asked me to do extra shifts before she was more polite about it, I don't care if she was having a bad day- she gave me zero respect. And I don't care how understaffed we are, I don't owe her my time, it's not my problem. No part of the job description stated it required you to be on call and be literally ordered to come in.

I'm not going to be treated like this by a boss. I've been wanting to cut back my hours for a long time and it took a lot for me to even show up after being spoken to like that, but I did end up taking my time and I showed up at 9 which was what was originally discussed. She gave me a quick thanks after my shift but I didn't even look at her, I should've called her out but I just didn't have the energy. I'll just be putting in some applications tonight and I'll be glad to be as far away from there as soon as possible.
