Broke hand at work and owner is ghosting me for workman’s compensation.

I work at a fast food franchise. Not going to say which one because some of my coworkers are on reddit. But I fractured part of my hand working on fryers two days ago. Had a day off and noticed couldnt work my dominant hand anymore. No movement at all out of it without sharp pain. I called in and explained what was happening to my manager on duty. His response was “were short staffed today and we need you here. We will just put you on the register.” I just mentally checked out with that response and hung up. I tried contacting the franchise owner and explained to him that im going to the hospital for xrays. He said pretty much the same thing. If your able to come work part of your shift. The problem is my job requires me to use both hands lifting, pushing, pulling, etc.…

The problem is my job requires me to use both hands lifting, pushing, pulling, etc. many things ranging from 10lbs to 100lbs multiple times an hour. Even on register im still lifting and pulling trash cans that weigh 50+lbs. my hand is useless in its current state. There will be no accommodation.

While waiting for doctors i asked for worker’s compensation info and i was told no one knew of that info on staff and owner is ghosting me. So im now stuck with a $1000 hospital bill and potentially no job because i didnt come to work with a broken hand.
