Burning current and future bridges for a one time payment?

Long story made short: my current boss owes me a bit of money. I recently quit my job because I want to try new things, and as of the last day of June, I will no longer be working there. I want to contact my union and have them look through my work calendars, paychecks etc from all the years I have been at this company. My boss has been illegally underpaying me for weekend and holiday shifts, and I ignored it because I didn’t want to be unemployed. However, my boss knows pretty much everyone in the field of work that I do. If I throw him under the bus and have my union force him to pay me the money he owes me, he can pretty much ruin my chances of ever returning to this line of work again. Is a one time payment worth it, or should…

Is a one time payment worth it, or should I just let it go in case I one day want to return to this kind of work?
