I live in Southeast Texas and have been trying to get a call center job. But, on almost every application they say I must speak both English and Spanish. Mind you, this isn't an application for a bilingual CSR branch, this is for the main CSR trunk. I understand where I live there is a large hispanic population. But, I shouldn't be penalized for only knowing English.
Furthermore, this seems like it's just a way to get bilingual reps without having to pay them a shift differential (which is common for bilingual reps in a call center environment.) I'm okay not making that extra money per hour since I can only take English speaking calls. But, don't shut me out entirely from even applying for the position.
