i requested today off, right on the day of the deadline to request days off. they gave me the two other days i needed off, but i called my manager and told her i wouldn’t be able to come in because i’m 2 hours away, and stuck in standstill traffic. i’m on “thin ice” for being sick. i have very young siblings (i am an adult so it’s not “an excuse”) that go to day care and camps and are constantly sick. they always get me sick. i’ve gotten covid once from work and twice from them already, and because of all this i’m on thin ice.
sorry for all the explaining. but she told me i still needed to come in. i JUST got home at 8:50ish from bringing my half sister home, and we close at 9. she said to come in whenever i get in. can i be fired for this? i plan on calling tomorrow morning and explaining the situation. i couldn’t leave any earlier, because of prior obligations. which is why i requested today off.
