So this isn't just a problem for me, everyone seems to have the same problem at my work. It's a small-ish craft store, but we have like 90+ aisles and plenty of little un-numbered display cart things. And about a zillion different things to do. And NO ONE is training ANYONE properly. You get taught how to do something when a manager walks by and tries to dump a task on you and you're like “uh I don't know how the heck to do this” so they have to stop and teach you. So they're rushed and only half-paying attention.
And I've literally never been taught to do zoning (making the store look pretty) and go-backs (putting lost stuff in the right places), but I end up assigned to do those, at the same time, at closing, when we're supposed to hurry. And no one around me will help me and teach me, because it's faster for them to just do it themselves. It's really, really stressful for me because I want to help, I want to know how to do everything they ask, but I can't.
And then, they end up with people (me) who have only been half-trained TRAINING NEW PEOPLE. Yeah, I had to train somebody like 3 months into my first job. It's now 4 months in and I'm training another person.
And I'm just sick of feeling guilty and useless over something that's actually their fault, and it hurts to watch the new employees going through the same thing I went through and am still going through. I'm trying my best to train anyone they ask me to, but my best isn't that good, and… Just……..
