My car broke down on the way to work the other day, it was overheating really bad and spewing steam and smoke everywhere. I used to be a mechanic so I limped it to an AutoZone and determined that it was a sticking thermostat as the thermostat had stuck on it before, so I spent a long time on my back underneath my car getting showered in coolant changing the thermostat. When everything was said and done I was covered head to toe in coolant and antifreeze and my arms and face were covered in engine gunk. And due to the fact that I have shared the same ideologies as this subreddit for a long time, I called my grandmother whose house was near where I work and asked if I could stop there and shower real fast before heading to work because I view myself as more important than my job, I got down the road almost to her house before the steam and overheating started again which caused me to barely even make it to her house, I pop the hood, and see a spewing crack in the radiator I hadn't noticed before. And then a bird pooped all over my head. Well at this point I figured it's pretty clear I can't drive to work, so I called my boss to call out, he already knew the situation because I had been keeping him updated as I was late to work anyways, and this dude said “if I pay for you to take a taxi to work can you finish your shift?” Keep in mind these are 12-hour shifts so until pretty late at night I wouldn't be able to get my car towed anywhere or shower Gunk off of me. I was like, I don't think he understands how much he's asking of me and obviously said no but he continued to press. Pissssssssed me off so bad lmao. Thankfully I have a truck that I can drive until I can get a radiator for my outback but I was like, why are bosses like this??
