So my wife has been working for the UN since March as a web developer. She was supposed to get paid on the first. They have given her multiple reasons as to the problem and keep saying payment is going to post and it doesn’t. Come yesterday they tell her they going to reduce hours for performance even though she’s completed every ticket assigned, and it was on work outside her expertise. She said she’s done working until paid, they owe around $10k. The other contractor hired at the same time hasn’t been paid and had an hours reduction as well. We plan to file with the Department of Labor. We also found out this is kind of their MO. How does the UN get away with this.

Would've made it a poll but ig that's not an option, so, what's the lowest bar you need to reach for you to use your sick time (if you even get any anymore) ? -I'm 1 bad cough away from my deathbed -I could probably still work but don't want to wear myself out -I'm not very sick but don't wanna get the coworkers sick too… -I'm taking this as a mental health day -I just really don't wanna work today Personally I'm pretty liberal with taking sick days but really only because I'm fortunate enough to get a fair number of them paid, just curious what other people's situations/feelings were like

Goodbye, workforce.
I spent the last 10 years since my retirement from the Navy (2010) as a structural/defense contractor welder (2 years in welding school). I spent 22 years in the Navy. Sacrificing my body and mind. I retired and became a welder. Welding work was enjoyable. I was left alone to do my job without much management input and it was the best. Welding was therapy that gave me a sense of accomplishment. My last job with a defense contractor was awesome. Great management, good people, non-toxic work environment and an atmosphere that promoted self care and did not penalize employees for taking a day off for whatever reason. Unfortunately, the defense contract I was on ended as of Tuesday this week. I turned in my security badge, said my goodbyes and left. The Navy gave me PTSD and 2 bad hips. I can no longer weld due to hip surgery.…
Your “betters”
Why do supervisors and management get so upset when employees don't treat them like they are superior? I'm not talking about blatant disrespect and stuff like that. I'm just talking about treating them as you would any other person – neutral, equal, competent colleague in a different department or career path- not all buddy-buddy either. Are they more likely to be up in arms about it if the employee has higher qualifications than their position in the firm would indicate (but maybe in a different field, which they can't seem to get into because they got niched and pigeonholed) perhaps equal or about equal if not higher than the supervisor's position.
Hello everyone, After the Easter holiday, I will be attending a disciplinary meeting for possible dismissal from a job I'm planning to leave next month anyway. The offences they raised were the following: Frequent lateness. However, I have been improving since the disciplinary warning and reduced it by 20% since Feb, still accept that it is not good enough. Private internet usage. The company was monitoring my internet activities at work at all times. Therefore, I have no excuses for that. Not up to the standard quality of work. Apparently, since I joined, I raised more than £100k and caused the company a £1.5k loss from one order mistake. Other mistakes didn't cause any financial losses to the company and were all resolved with the customers. I already have two job offers lined up with the starting date around early June. Should I plead my case to stay with the…
My last job said I'll have to pay a fee of 25$ to get my paycheck a second time since the cheque rebounded. What they don't know is: 1. I know my rights 2. That's illegal 3. I already called Labour standards to see what I can do if they actually do remove 25$ off my paycheck. It might be only 25$ but it's the principle of it all. If they're gonna do it to me they probably did it to other people before. There needs to be an investigation on their accounting books to see if every single employee got the money they were owed for their labour. Also, if no one says anything, they'll probably do it again to younger folks who just entered the workforce and probably don't know their rights as much and that to me; is the worst part of it all. Do you think…
A better definition of loyalty
Basically I hate my working class life. 5 days out of 7 I’m in complete misery.. Doing mundane and tedious tasks for corporations has driven me insane. I can’t handle the constant toil, the exhaustion, the mind numbing aspects of these jobs. Every person in my family says I need to be medicated immediately because I don’t like wage slaving. But would these pills even help? Is the addiction that comes with daily pill usage even be worth it? Sure I’m depressed but I’m only depressed when I’m working. The weekends I’m really happy and when I’m unemployed it’s bliss. ‘I need therapy’ they say How exactly would going to see another wage slave and talking about how I hate the 9-5 life help at all? When would I even go? On my one day off? I also wouldn’t mind if the pills zombified me. Pls help I need advice
