I had a job interview for one position, but they were describing a completely different position when I asked.

I had an interview for assistant-manager for a big restaurant chain, this is a job I have quite a bit of experience in. I went to the interview thinking my job would entail planning and training staf, ordering, marketing, social media, finances etc. During the hour long interview I figured out marketing and training are centralised, finances is done once a week in the afternoon and ordering is done by the kitchen. I asked what I would be doing on a day to day basis and he described the head waiter position with a few administrative tasks. I wouldn't even be making the schedules, so I can't plan my own hours (which is normally a benefit from being the assistant-manager). The guy told me to think about the job offer and contact him, but I told him then and there that I'm way too good at my job to work…

How do you deal with team leader like this?

I work as a marketing specialist at a small company, and I'm wondering if I'm wrong for not wanting to take charge and tell my team what to do. I'm not the leader, and I don't want to lead because I'm not paid enough for this shit. Our boss is always asking us for 'feedback'. My team leader is a marketing executive, but it seems like she doesn't always know what she's doing. She became the leader because the previous leader and another team member left. She is older than me and respectfully, I don't want to overstep my role and tell her what she should be doing. At the end of every work day, I ask myself these question “how is someone like her not fired? how can someone speak so much without actually saying anything?” Some of my colleagues have also observed her asking basic questions related to…

Terminated after 5 years

Wouldn't even give me a reason beyond it being “a business decision.” I had to sign a letter saying, essentially, I wouldn't take legal action and I would get a better severance package. The day I return it, they post my job. I worked hard and was so well liked they had to have one on one meetings with everyone on my team to make sure they were ok. Im lost and scared and feel like I've just been dumped.

Found out my ‘promotion’ was just to bring my wage in line with my new subordinate

Basically the title. Found out that the new recruit that I’m 100% responsible for, had to train myself and delegate tasks to earns the same amount as me. Hello! I have an issue at work that I’ve just found out about and I’m hoping you guys might be able to give some advice as how to navigate the situation. Here we go… So I work as support staff for a team of Mortgage Brokers at a small firm attached to a residential construction company. Originally we had 2 support staff and 4 brokers – recently we had 2 brokers and the other support staff resign. Leaving me to support the remaining two brokers and take ownership of the clients that had been assigned to the brokers that left because the remaining brokers were ‘too busy’ to take them on. Management also thought this was a great time to recruit another…

Is it wrong of me to email my resignation in with no prior notice? Meaning I’m quitting immediately…

So as the title says is it? So background I am currently occupying a job as a punch press operator which I absolutely hate but am only doing for the money to get through school. Money isn't the problem anymore but I was going to keep working through the year to build some money up. However, it's been a large quantity of small things that have kinda driven me over the cliff making me not want to come back ever! My coworkers all suck, I seem to get stuck with the blame for every little thing, my boss is just happy to let it be that way and today he came up to me after something like that happened and he's like “well I'm not going to fire you over this but that's messed up.” And it's just a lot of small little things like that that have build up…

Starting a Union because of shitty head office

I have been off and on again with my current retail job for 20+ years.(about 15-16 years total since 2002) I love the work I do and the staff are all wonderful, but head office is getting a little too comfortable expanding the business and promoting all their growth in the face of giving no compensation for long term employees. In the past 7 years, I have received raises totalling 29 cents. I was salary at 36k ($18.71/hr), but stepped out of the management role. This took me to $18/hr then I was told I was maxed out as an hourly employee. 6 years go by and I get 2 raises within 3 months of each other totalling $1. I was told that I shouldn't even get that. Most of the staff at my location are long term staff (5+ years) and most haven't had a raise in several years.…

I told my boss about my disability and they fired me

Hello reddit, it has been a few months since my boss stabbed me in the back and although things have settled down, I am still recovering from what happened. The characters of this story are my boss or sm (store manager), my supervisor Sam (sales assistant manager), and Laura supervisor. Also, some may recognize this story from an early vague post I made while things were going down. To begin in February I was diagnosed with PTSD and reoccurring depression, this was no suprise to me. I have had panic attacks and crippling anxiety for years and get bad depression every month ( yah hormones suck). February was also the 6-month review for my retail job, and as most could guess my anxiety and nerves came up a lot. Job stress was not only destroying my mental health but my physical health as well. I was getting migraines so strong…

If you were an hourly employee and someone from corporate office reached out to you outside of work hours, what would you do?

I'm tempted to message back and say something around please either pay me for OT if I'm considered on call or just ignore it. I hate my company (they've been sued three times in a 2 year span and lost all 3 cases) for devious shit. In addition, this woman is the Bane of my existence and she's one of the least liked people in the entire company. I'm planning on leaving anyways but its also only the first time they've reached out outside of office hours.
