I was abruptly fired last Thursday (never had any issues/disciplinary actions at work other than the big boss just didn't like me), and this week they're discovering they can't access any of the merchant account transactions because the book keeper set my cell phone to receive security pins for log in (not by my request either). I was even courteous and texted the book keeper almost immediately upon being fired that he would want to update the phone number as i was no longer with the business. Well, I've been getting the pin over and over, and now I'm getting phone calls…… Sorry, I'm too busy signing the offer letter for my new job to answer

I learned from a meeting with a higher up that there really is no accountability for supervisors who work for my state in central office. No one is making sure they do their job, or do their job correctly. And performance evaluations for workers don’t really matter either. It doesn’t matter how hard you work. It goes nowhere. No one cares. Someone can pass the buck, get the job done as fast and as easily as possible with no attention to whether it causes a citizen hardship, kiss someone’s butt and get a promotion. Good luck if you have to apply for Medicaid in my state. Always always request a hearing if your case was incorrectly denied. And mail the hearing request certified mail. But even then, it’s not sure to land on the lap of someone who actually cares. Those people got burned out a long time ago.
Long time lurker, first-time poster here. I guess I just wanted to vent. Earlier this year I was fired from my job at a squad-linked, progressive political consulting firm. Things were going great last year, until my wonderful boss left and one of my coworkers replaced her. The firm is outwardly progressive, but internally it's a different story. During my time there, my boss blatantly discriminated against me for being autistic. One time when I told her I was burnt out and that getting mad at me didn't help, she told me “we all are”, as if autistic burnout is the same as when a neurotypical person reaches that point (it's not). For my BS PIP I was put on, she basically criticized me for things that are because of, or due to me being autistic, while basically reviewing me as a non-autistic employee. When I complained in an email…
I’ve worked for an utility contractor for the last seven years of my life. The first couple years were good. I made good money and got a chance to move out of my small town. After 3 and a half years I wanted to move back to my hometown. I missed my family and friends. My company has a contract in my hometown so I arranged everything so I could transfer. I moved back in December of 2019 was going to start in January of 2020 but due to the pandemic they laid off a bunch of people. I was given the run around by the operations manager and said screw them I’m just going to file for unemployment. I was on unemployment for 10 months and when it ran out I ended up going back to the big city I had moved too until I could get transferred back…
Usually in the summer it's a low season so we all take turns to travel. One coworker is going on vacation and she notified me that I will be working the full time and no days off (our day offs are different) because I need to cover her. Her day off is a day where we actually aren't officially open. I told her it doesn't make sense that I will be working for 10 hours a day for 20 days straight and coming on a day that doesn't serve but she stated that it's normal and everywhere is like that. Please advise what to do and how to handle this situation.
I am making this post since mods deleted my previous post for being a screenshot. Today all these platfoms have come out stating in order to break the portest they should just allow the portest to go on until union leaders starting losing their homes and apartments. I don't know about you but I am fed up with these disgusting behavior and think something should be done in retaliation. Today everyone in this sub should cancel and delete their Amazon, Netflix, Warner and Disney accounts, they will lose monthly reaccuring charges and will be unable to sell your data. With it also being Prime Day it be a huge fuck you to Amazon if they were to see a huge decline in accounts. When you are asked why you are canceling tell them it is for the comments made by the studio about breaking the WGA.
The small wins still count
My friend was 2 minutes late for work. Manager stood there , with a face like thunder, and told him, he would not be paid for the first 15 minutes for being 2 minutes late. My friend, says fair enough, and heads straight to the coffee machine. Manager tells him to start work immediately, friend says no, as I am not being paid and I will not work for free. Staff start laughing. My friend drinks his drink, chill AF Manager looks murderous, but nothing he can do No pay, no work Screw em
I have a degree in Social Work but I havent used it in over a year. The field gave me horrible anxiety and depression. Currently doing something completely blue collar and unrelated. I could be making more money using my degree but the work is very uninteresting to me at this point in my life and I'm having a hard time wanting to return to that sort of work. The job I have know doesn't pay the greatest and isn't exciting at all but at least I don't have anxiety anymore. I want to begin a career in something again but I don't know where to begin or what to learn. I've been toying with the idea of going back to school to take a 1-2 year program in something else but the thought of coursework and writing papers seems like a drag. I've thought about trade school as well…
In this day and age, you can’t survive on just living by yourself. You need a partner. Doesn’t matter you are a man or women, you guys are going to have to be on the same page financially to even have a chance at retiring. Be debt free. No credit cards, no leasing cars, No payday loans. Having a mortgage is okay though. Combine incomes. If you guys both make 45k a year, agree to combine incomes so the house income is 90k a year, If you must have kids, only have one kid and be sure to teach him to be financially literate at an early age. Find a job you can tolerate the most. Be frugal! That polo Ralph Lauren shirt that cost $80 only cost $5 to make in the factory. Most old people I see are very frugal too. Read “The millionaire next door” it teaches…
My fiancé’s job just went remote 2 days a week which is amazing. However, the issue is he drives me to work everyday. I do not have a license and we work about 45 minutes away from home. I don’t want to take this awesome opportunity away from him so basically I’m ready to risk it all. My job is VERY anti WFH due to CEOs stance. Of course many VPs, directors, etc have an exception and work from all over the country. But us grunt workers have to come in everyday. How should I approach my boss when asking to go hybrid? I’m not good at confrontation so I’m unsure how to go about this.
