I don’t know how much longer I can keep going. I provide my employers efficiency and the best of my abilities, in return I get more work with no reward . Time and time again they just take your kindness for weakness. All the online applications for jobs with somewhat a reasonable wage just look like complete scams. Prices are through the roof on everything from groceries to houses. Supreme Court cares nothing of the people. I don’t know what to do anymore. One bad day and I’ll probably end up under a bridge. Feels as if I’m digging myself into bigger hole each and everyday with no way out.

Here on a bit of a secret account cause I don’t want this associated with my actual socials. I am a person who jumps from job to job a lot. I rarely stay at a place longer than a year because why get a 25¢ raise from a job when you can go somewhere else and earn $2 more. Plus I don’t like when places get too comfortable having me around. I also have the fortune of having worked at a place that is now closed down. Ever since an interviewer made a comment about the amount of places I’ve worked at I changed my resume around. Now instead of 8 jobs in the last 8 years I have worked at my first job for a year and the closed place for six and my current job for one. Any extra years in the future will be added to the…
Management should do management training
I work at a lab, I'm a scientist, i have a PhD. My boss is one of the founders of the company, he has no higher education. He hired me as project manager, he never listens to me, and is “managing” the pronjects himself, I'm doing R&D because that's what my predecessor did (was doing R&D and project manager in name only). I keep telling him his timelines are obseen, the equipment is under serviced, we have to have a generator (apparently people here have been telling him that for the last 4 years) yesterday, there were three short black outs during the day (i lost two days of work, some people lose more or less). He comes in today (obviously he wasn't in most of yesterday during the blackouts) and i told him that i just lost two days of work. He got mad and said the he checked…
Just remember folks..
I was looking for a job when I found this one. Don't need the work like you need the work done. You look like you're under pressure. I was already looking for a job two weeks ago, when I met you, remember? -Todd Snider.
Long story short, I was promoted a couple of months ago and then several weeks later my company had layoffs. My new position was impacted and I was told I could either leave that day or go back to my old role. I chose to stick with my old role for income security yet our workload increased nearly 3x to make up for the others that were let go. They won’t increase pay despite giving us more work and I am considering leaving soon so I can spend my entire day interviewing but I’m worried I put myself in a position to not be eligible for unemployment benefits. Does anyone have any advice or feedback on what to do? Live in CT for context.
“The endgame is to allow things to drag on until union members start losing their apartments and losing their houses,” a studio executive told Deadline. Acknowledging the cold-as-ice approach, several other sources reiterated the statement. One insider called it “a cruel but necessary evil.” I personally think the writers guild strike represents a bigger and broader problem in current society. It’s all about the ever increasing bottom line and trying to squeeze out every last drop of profit and the creators/ peoples expense. Why should we subscribe to a streaming service that doesn’t represent our shared values and on top of that will no doubt see reduced quality content in the near future?
It's evident that the majority of threads in this subreddit are USA-based cases in which the employers are greedy bastards whose intent is to exploit their everyday workers to the absolute extreme, while providing low wages. However, the hardship of everyday life is applicable to everyone, especially to developing countries where we don't enjoy the same standard of living as in the United States. Currently making $1100/month after taxes, which is at round $6.87/h. This is a bit over the average salary in my country (Eastern Europe), while inflation is rampant at around 25%. After paying rent, food, gas, electricity and water, phone and other utilities, I'm left with less than $100 till the end of the month. I can't treat myself to anything nice without considering that it can be devastating to my finances. Last week my employer offered me an increase to my annual salary by a whopping…
I wanted to earn as much money as possible during summer because I need to buy a new PC for university but after the first week where I was in training and I got one 12h shift on Saturday and right now I don't even know what I'm supposed to do now. I've called to ask for some kind of schedule or something and they told me that I should not worry because they will find work for me, but it's already 2 days after I called and no one is telling me anything.
So as the title says, I had a call with a recruiter on Monday evening, she works for that bank but told me that she acts as their recruiter. We talked for an hour and she said she would schedule an interview with the team I applied for very soon. Its been two days, and I am starting to get the feeling that she will never actually schedule that meeting… how long should I wait to follow up? Just FYI, I had the impression she would do it after we hung up, immediately.
Hi! I’m a speech therapist in a school (so we follow teacher’s requirements/schedules). I started this job in February and haven’t taken any days off yet. This upcoming school year, I have two weddings in September and October that fall the day before a long weekend (one of which I’m a bridesmaid). At my school, they have made it clear that there is ONLY sick days (12 accrued throughout the year with a summer program) and they are to be used for illnesses and doctor visits. Looking for advice if I should be honest and risk going unpaid, or risk calling out the day of (probably will look bad and they may ask for a doctors note). Also thinking of saying I have a doctor’s appointment for at least one of the days so I don’t have two unpaid days!! I don’t call out often in general, but since I…
