“Recruitment Privileges”

Recruiters who cold-call/email you about job openings but act as it's a privilege they contacted you in the first place are so scummy. “What we expect to be considered…” ermmm…you're the one who contacted me. It's weird.

What should I do

I just finished working a fast food job for over a year for 7.50 only (minimum wage is 7.25 here) & it was very messy place that messed with my mental health so I left and stopped working for some months and just started working for $10 an hour at McDonald’s, my first week I worked 8 days in a row and he gave me my schedule and basically said I get Monday and Tuesday off every week and that’s it, but im a senior who wants to enjoy weekends sometimes with my friends for my last year but I don’t want to quit because I’m trying to save up money to start boxing this summer what should I do?

Has anyone here taken short term disability for burn out?

I’ve been seeing a therapist for 6 months who had told me since January I need time off work. She’s encouraged me to look into my short term disability benefit at work. I can take it however I’m extremely paranoid that my employer will Hold it against me. Has anyone ever done this? How long were you out and what was it like when you returned?

Attempting to make a new holiday, discuss your pay day

Hey y'all, i floated this idea a while back and people seem to have taken a liking to it. I've done some legwork since then but i want to get some more opinions before i finalize stuff. The Holiday is called discuss your pay day, the idea is you can either have an open conversation with your colleagues, pin your hourly to your nametag or in a placard on your desk. Now the day i'm wondering about. some have said May 1st since its national workers rights day(labor day) but i'm not too sure about that, since i know a good number of people have that as a day off and wouldn't be able to participate(Excluding service industries which are the bulk of our community). How are we feeling about may 2nd? Does your job personally take off for labor day? Open to input from all sides

Purely Hypothetical Legal Question

Okay here’s some very surface level background: So I work for a bank. Over the past few weeks I got an insultingly low raise, was told to learn and pick up others’ job responsibilities if I wanted more(which I have done), had my promised transfer to the area I’m supposed to move to yanked away, and was laughed out of the room when I negotiated for a more fair salary. I won’t go on at length about my grievances, just know I’m disgruntled. I’m looking for other jobs, but for now I’m basically held hostage here until my wages improve and I can move (which was an original agreement when I accepted the job). I’ve busted my ass since my raise negotiation, doing everything they’ve asked me to start, which has mostly consisted of picking up others’ slack. All people who have worked here longer and make significantly more than…

Ungrateful about salary raise

only 2.88 percent salary raise announced today after taking on middle managerial duties in addition to my own job duties. No raise in 2020. I hated working already. Being underpaid just adds insult to injury.

Why can’t job postings/interviews just be honest?

I finally graduated college last summer with an associates in account after going part time for 4 years while working full time retail for 5 years. I spent a few months putting in applications and going to the occasional interview when they could be bothered to get back to me. I eventually landed a new job at a large bank as a banker. It wasn’t much more than what I was making but they offered a better bonus structure and I was looking for a change of pace. When I interviewed, they mentioned that I would also be trained on the teller line and that I would spend time there while getting trained for my main role. They said that the breakdown would be something like 70/30 depending on how busy the business was. I was use to having a multi role so I didn’t think of that at the…
