We are the herd!

We are the collective, we are the 99% however we are slaves. We are known as the herd, whilst Covid was a big thing they talked about herd immunity, or herd mentality, that is what we are thought of! Well you know what, if that’s what they want to think of us, then we should start acting like it. What happens when a herd collectively starts running? We create a stampede, which cannot be stopped! They will try to give us things to fight with each other about to reduce our numbers, but we can not let that divide us. They will tell us our cause is unjust and will cause financial strain, we already have that! Their greed has taken so much from us, but we can take it back! We are in control over how long these mega corporations and governments last, despite what they want you to…

My co-worker comes in every day smelling like cat piss. Boss won’t do anything about it.

This is a huge issue in a small office. I work right next to this woman. I just started and she sits in the same room as me. She told me she has five cats the day I started. They are mostly feral and on day one, I smelled a foul unmistakable odor of cat pee. By the second week, it got stronger. It was so strong that one woman came into the office from outside and immediately said “what smells in here?”. I am a very clean person. I became concerned people thought it may be me but thankfully my coworker walked right up to me yesterday and told me she can't take it anymore. She said everyone in the office is complaining. It's that bad. This same coworker demanded our main boss do something. This boss runs and owns the office. My boss said I should speak up…

Sick time required for WFH

Does anyone know if this is legal? Company requires us to work in office Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday. If you don’t feel well enough to go into the office, but you feel well enough to work from home on any of those 3 days, they have started encouraging us to submit sick time in order to WFH. Isn’t sick time meant for when you are not working? Thanks!

Boss says I never make eye contact with him

Okay so basically we work in the healthcare industry. I’m like a level below him in terms of career title. I also have social anxiety but I try my best to hide it as I need to see patients as well – which I think it’s getting better. Today he came to talk to me, saying that sometimes when he’s instructing me , I do not look him in the eye. He says that he feels like I’m not interested in what he is talking, or I seem rude. He also said that he’s pretty old school and prefer eye to eye contact when talking. I get his point, but sometimes I am trying to make my time effective by doing other tasks but keeping my ears open. So I’m actively listening. Plus, this is a new job I’m working, have only been here a few months. Do you guys…

The contrast between nations

Damn… Having followed this subreddit for a while, it has helped me realize how differently things work in the US compared to my home country of Sweden. I was recently working in logistics at a large DIY company and was actually enjoying the job, but then i was suddenly offered a paid internship over the summer at a company in the same field i am currently studying to get in to, and i just couldn't turn it down. I had never had a bad experience of quitting a job before, but considering the circumstances where i was brought in on a very short notice to the logistics department to cover peoples vacations over the summer (i had just before become unemployed due to not getting an extension at my previous workplace), i was dreading having that conversation with my boss… When we sat down and talked though, he was very…

Sleep Apnea Write-up

I am unsure if this is a place to ask for advice. I will remove it if I am overstepping any boundaries. I was written up by my supervisor the other day for dozing off for 15 minutes the other day. I have been recently diagnosed with sleep apnea and getting treatment for it, a CPAP machine I cannot seem to keep on overnight. Is it wise to dispute this with HR or at least get it acknowledged as a sleep disability? I also kept my supervisor in the loop that I was having issues staying awake, took time off that he knew was for a sleep study, and that I had picked up a CPAP from my doctor. Can anything be done or should I just ride it out and dust off my resume? This is in Minnesota.
