Fair work question – Queensland
I’ve been trying to find out online if this is legal, basically I had an argument with my Manager yesterday on the phone, not so much an argument as he started to raise his voice at me so I just hung up on him, today he has called me into the office and told me that if “my attitude “ gets out of hand again he will expect my resignation, otherwise I would be getting a written warning. I just laughed and said no worries mate. For context I am a manager of 25 people myself, so I’m not a kid or an apprentice (not that it should matter) But I was not offered any HR rep, or union Rep ect for our little meeting, what should I do ?
So I work for a very large company. All jobs that didn’t absolutely require you to be physically present were WFH for past two years. Several times they thought we were going to return but pushed out because of COVID. Yay! So last summer they start telling us we’re going back in September. That while we are doing great from home, they believe there is value in coming into the office to build relationships and collaborate, etc. Everyone was going to be coming back in three days a week. Tuesday and Wednesday were mandatory for all so that we could actually see people (vs people picking their days and then you could potentially never see people who didn’t come in those same days)and then some people would come in on Monday and some on Thursday. We stand in solitary with all teachers who are being forced to strike. The board of trustees and superintendent continue to fail our students by refusing to provide our educators with a living wage. The special board meeting tonight 3/8 was an insult to our students, teachers, parents and voters. The lack of leadership from the board in understanding the financials, obfuscating comments, and lack of operational understanding are confounding. The negotiations have been open for over 10 months and the community still has to hear from a board members who claim ignorance as to an understanding of what is occurring within the budget. The independent fact finder has affirmed the position of teachers, yet the board and superintend are refusing to entertain the findings. So I work(ed) for a medium sized legal firm as an assistant, working primarily with a lawyer who, for reasons best known to her, took on more cases than usual – maybe she was pressured by the higher ups, I never found out. Either way, she comes to me on a Monday afternoon and asks me to stay an 'hour or so' extra every day that week to help get the workload under control. I said sure, I'm saving for a holiday right now so I could use the overtime pay. Cue a blank stare from Susan.
