I just want to express thanks for this board and all the users on it. You all really help me keep perspective on and appreciate my job with my current company. Sometimes I have little complaints and gripes, and sometimes I look and see how people in my position at other companies might be making more. But then I read the posts here and realize my gripes are pretty minimal compared to others and that maybe money isn’t the most important thing. I enjoy my work, I have a boss that treats me well, the company itself seems to be run by some very nice people, etc. Even though more money would help, I don’t think this is an environment I’d want to lose, especially at the risk of ending up with the type of bosses or coworkers a lot of you have. Seriously considering giving two weeks notice on a Friday and starting the new job on the next Monday. My current job is WFH with two days a week in the office for “culture”. (Hybrid, but doesn’t need to be.) If they don’t fire me I’ll just WFH at the old job & work both jobs for two weeks.

My boss of one and half years was like this from the very beginning He doesn’t want me sitting on my desk with my phone, but I don’t have any other work, I’ve asked him to give me something to do a punch of times and have done every single thing he asks of me. At my job we all don’t work much, we’re in government, so not much work. But he nags me because “you’re wasting your potential”. When I spent my time honing my writing skills or reading anything he didn’t like me doing “non-work related things”. Then what am I supposed to do???? Every time he said something I’d say just give me anything and I’d do it.

Something has to give. People are not happy with this way of life any longer. Their obsession with profit has tainted our very existence. they’ve forsaken the beauty of genuine connections, replacing them with shallow interactions and hollow relationships. Our empathy, once a cornerstone of humanity, has been eroded by the relentless pursuit of self-interest. It starts with each one of us, making conscious choices and spreading awareness. Let us ignite the flames of change within ourselves and inspire others to do the same. The time has come to awaken from our slumber, to reclaim our true purpose, and to build a brighter, more compassionate world for ourselves and future generations.

Why do companies make reviews where the highest score is unattainable? Like 1-5 but we never give anyone 5s because that would just be crazy. Why even add 5 to the rating if I can never get there? It's so demotivating, why bother working hard since I'll never achieve the highest score? Is there some psychology that just isn't working on me or something?

Yesterday I had an interview with a hvac company to fill a tech position. The company I'm leaving pays 32 an hour. The guy doing the hiring said he would pay me 32 an hour if I could prove that's what I'm making now. I asked him how he wanted me to prove it. He said to bring him my last paystub and last year's tax returns. I told him that my finances were between me and the IRS and that he and his company could get fucked. I've never had to show a potential employer nothing but my skills to get a job and I'm not starting now. Has this ever happened to any of you?
