Wage discrimination
So I recently found out a coworker is making more than me for the same job for the sole reason of him having a child. I've asked for a raise of 50 cents more than this coworker because I have more experience and I constantly have to help him do his job properly and he still makes more than me. I asked for a raise like 2 weeks ago. Manager is dragging his feet saying I have to have a performance evaluation Yada Yada Yada. HR won't even return my calls. So I did a little research and the 2 different lawyers I've spoken with say this sounds a lot like discrimination to them. So I'm just biding my time until he either tells me he can't give me a raise or only offers like 25 cents or something. What else can I do besides quit. I don't want to…
I work in an office for a company that presents itself as a serious and professional company. The work culture is far from and it has its pros and cons. The owner is known for “ball busting”. I had to work from home as my car was being repaired. The owner asked me where i was and i jokingly said “hiding”. Froze up and din’t know what to say. He “good cause you were almost unemployed” I think he was trying to be nice by telling me he made food and i could help myself to it. He said “i know how much you like free food”. Do i have a right to feel unvalued, disrespected, a but humiliated? Or should i have thicker skin? This was said on the floor the whole office heard this. His son is a good friend of mine. One time i was talking to…
Hey guys I'm in a pickle. I work as a therapy assistant at a school through a contract company. I got paid for a state recognized vacation week in April (april vaca). No one told me that I could or could not add the hours for that week, so I did, assuming that if they were not approved that week's pay would be denied. Well, it was approved so all was well. The reason why I added the hours in the first place was because my vacation pay was approved during February vacation as well, granted it was at another school, but it was from the same staffing company.. so I assumed it would be okay this time as well..Now, someone from the district apparently reached out to my staffing company is asking me about the contract hours for that week in April. They want verification from my supervisors that…
Rule 8 prevents the identification of specific businesses. So IDK that I can post here with my problem, as the specific employer might dictate specific solutions that might be available to me. Else, given the specific employer I don't want to be identified before I am ready. How much can work IT find out about a post on reddit? What are the dangers I don't know about?
Hello there. Would it be possible for this sub to join the reddit blackout that is happening on the 12th of June? This issue likely affects a lot of the users of this sub because many use third party reddit apps. This may not seem like this will do much but it will still cause a disruption, this is the aim of the protest. Here is a link to the information post. I completely understand if this post is removed or denied but please at least consider it. (The original poster from another subreddit, u/hau5keeping, has given permission to copy/paste or crosspost it to other subreddits.)
Manager Doesn’t Want to Pay Out Bonuses
Hello, I am still a bit amped up and writing this quickly sorry for typos or grammar mistakes. I work as an assistant at an investment firm. At the beginning of 2022 our company announced that they would be paying a $10 bonus to each account that we got fully enrolled in paperless statements. We kind of forgot about the bonus as there weren't many wanting paperless as the majority of our customer base are older. However, at the beginning of 2023 they announced that any account not enrolled in paperless by the end of June would be charged a yearly $25 fee. This announcement was sent out to all of our customers which brought upon a large surge of people wanting to sign up. I am the youngest by about 30 – 40 years so I was tasked with heading that push and setting up and fielding all the…
