Category: Antiwork
This might just be a personal rant: My company got purchased by a larger company and we were told that as long as we assist with the transition, we would have jobs at the new company, and AT WORST, our jobs are safe through 9/30. Yesterday I got told that not only did I not get a job at the new company, they're moving my termination date up to 6/30 because I'm the least-senior person on my team and people from another department will be doing my job so they can keep their job longer. Make sure you guys always look out for yourselves first and never trust your company when they tell you these things. I could have been looking for a new job for weeks….

Doubts about Streamlining Work with AI
So, I work in a very clerical position. A lot of paperwork, a lot of forms, a lot of reading/sorting/summarizing. I recognize all most all of this can be done by AI. I want to spend some time trying to figure out how to make my computer do more work for me, but I worry that I will get pressured into explaining my workflow to my teammates and boss. I do not want to do that. Is this something I should be worried about? Why would I show my employer how to use AI that would make it easier for them to do my job, therefore getting rid of the need for someone in my role at my company? This has been a barrier to my moving forwards with this project, as I don't want to have to tell my boss “I am not going to show you how to…
It sucks. Do you think there is still a possibility of there being a recession in 2023? My US total market stocks has basically recovered from last year so I’m not sure exactly if we’re still having the same problem with ad revenue. It seems like it. I think it’s time I actually get around to using all my vacation days this year instead of hoarding them.
RTO issues
I’ve been working remotely for the same company for over a year. Now they are insisting everyone return to the office on a hybrid schedule. That’s really not so bad, except I have a very old dog I have to let out frequently. Also, my boss is remote only, as are some teammates. I plan to ask about converting to a full time remote status, but wonder if anyone else here has had any success in doing so. TIA.
So, I enjoy my job as much as is possible with how much caregiver burnout is involved. I started with my new company in January and have been successful with them during that time. I started out at the company with 40 scheduled hours a week. But a few parents decided to reduced hours a another wanted their old therapist back after she returned to maternity leave. All typical things to come up in the therapy community. We’ve added a few additional hours with existing clients but I kept asking for a few of my remaining time blocks to be filled. I’m currently at 26 hours a week which is a little low, I’d rather be between 30-32 hours. Which allows me to contribute to our home expenses but isn’t too many hours where I can’t deal with the burnout from caregiving. I’ve asked for two more of my blocks…
Not to mention we've been slammed almost every day lately anyway.
