This country has ruined my desire to have children

Growing up, I was fortunate enough to have a great childhood under the protection of amazing parents. We weren't rich, but they gave me love and opportunity which was fine for me. I'm 26M and I have a longtime girlfriend who I hope to someday marry. In the past, I hoped to give my children a better childhood than even I had. Then I graduated college. I had over 40k of debt to my name. I know that's not law school levels, but it's a lot for me. I had to pay that money back or risk my credit taking a major hit. I don't make a lot of money now – just below average, so the money I'm paying towards my loans are making me go into a vicious cycle where mathematically I will be paying off this loan for a very, very long time. I literally can't afford…

I don’t understand why some people think that team events are mandatory.

Thanks for reaching out, but I am a capitalist, want to interview and test me? There is a price for that, do I look like a commie to do stuff for free?

I submitted my resume, this is what I received back. Employers wonder why they’re having issues finding workers.

Interviewer tried to gaslight my wife into accepting shit pay for a job she’s overqualified for. It didn’t end the way they were hoping.

My wife works in a very niche part of the medical industry. She's not a nurse or medical staff but a major part of the recruitment and hiring of talent process. She's been stuck in a contract position for nearly a year. She was told she would've been made permanent but since “we decided to move to a other state” they were no longer comfortable making her permanent despite her job being remote and others in the same department living hours away from any of the branches being staffed. She made her case several times for being made permanent but they never would. So she started job hunting. Her first interview was a few weeks ago and the listing was for $25+ an hour “mostly remote”. When she asked what that meant they said she has the option to work off the clock at home if she chose but would…

I just called a customer a class traitor to his face.

Some dude in a construction vest comes in complaining that his cell phone isn’t working because he apparently didn’t put enough money on it. He’s on the cheapest prepaid plan you can get, and is griping that he doesn’t have enough money to pay the balance twice. I take care of it for him and he starts telling me about how rude it is that his coworker is trying to ply him for information. He tells me a story about how some guy came onto his job side and asked how much he made, so he lied to the guy. I told him that wasn’t the best move and that he should absolutely be discussing his wages with his coworkers. He shrugs it off and says “yeah well the boss got mad at me for discussing wages” and I said “of course he did, he wants to be able to…

Why do employers still dangle the carrot?

Had a job offer this morning. They offered competitive pay and benefits. So I asked what the pay and benefits are? She replied :”Ah company policy we cant tell you those”. I said “with all due respect my policy is to only look into offers I know something about pay and benefits. I'm sorry and I'm trying to be respectful and professional but I gotta have something to work with and I'm not interested on this opportunity if I don't know the pay and benefits”. She thanked me for my time. I still feel a little asswhole ish but at the same time I feel correct. If the benefits are so great why cant ya just tell me. Dangle that carrot elsewhere .

I’m never working early again

I work at Kumun in Japan. Teaching English and Math. I always come into work 30-45 minutes early, and unpaid, mostly because I know it’s difficult to get things organized and I want to make things easier for my boss. I don’t start work until four pm. Anyway last night in Japan there was a huge earthquake. My window broke so spent a lot of time this morning and afternoon talking to my landlord and getting it repaired. I walked until work at 3:55 (still early). My boss immediately started yelling at me demanding to know why I was late. That things were still not clean and organized and that I was being selfish. Once I explained that I wasn’t late and that I come in early just to be nice she started ranting again. She told me that tomorrow (Friday) she expects me there at the normal (early) time.…
