Prior to the pandemic I worked a freelance job making $25 an hour which is really good for my area and I enjoyed it because I set my own hours and the pay was great. I did this for 3 years. Then covid hit, lost my job, got on unemployment made more than I ever had on that, then took a weekend part time $15 an hour, jumped to full time under the presumption that my pay would raise…. It did not. I work Mon-Fri 2-11pm for $15 an hour. Which I thought since it was a set schedule it'd basically equal out mostly. But now inflation has happened and I can barely afford gas to get to work let alone bills, rent, and food. And for what?! I could go get another job, but everywhere around me is paying practically the same. Everything is going up except our pay.…

Oh the irony
My husband works from home and his company was having a zoom meeting, they were doing some type of superlative voting activity. My husband won best use of gifs in the company chat. So he responds with a gif of Will Farrell from Wedding Crashers and it says gif game strong. Nothing serious, people laughed and moved on. Then his boss sends a message saying the gif is offensive and must be taken down he said his head about exploded
Can someone help me?
How are you all just quiting jobs? I live in Canada, I’m 24, am single. I have sensory issues, adhd, ptsd etc and I can’t do math, like I have dyscalculia. I work retail and was recently off work for about a month because of depression/stress. I went back yesterday and while my coworkers are cool people, the customers bitch about everything and anything and I’m sick of being treated like someone’s bitch. I know I’m anti social, I know I hate people in general. I can’t find a job that’s high paying enough for me to be able to move somewhere less awful, I hate living in a conservative small town, my life is passing me by. But I literally can’t afford to leave. My retail job is not worth keeping my shitty apartment, it’s not worth being here but I cannot afford a decent quality of life somewhere…
I work for a company from home and require a computer they send me, the computer has had many problems that has needed fixed until eventually it won’t even let me login after 6 tickets of troubleshooting, so we put in a ticket for a new computer. Week goes by, no computer.. okay, fine. Make a call, ask if they have an ETA. Turns out they never sent the computer. Okay, so let’s get this set up to actually get my computer. We set up a ticket, try to get it pushed to urgency. It’s Wednesday of the next week, still waiting on my computer. Turns out, they still have not sent my computer. They forgot or messed up, again. Not only did they do that but I’ve been notified within the last month 30 days of technical issues without a fix is termination (which I think is actually kinda…
How I saved on toilet paper!!
I just take it from my job:)
I used to work for a large bank, and they were having trouble with high turnover. HR had a meeting with us and wanted to know how they could improve worker morale without increasing pay or giving us more benefits. Could luck with that!
Am I lazy??
My father is not really the best person in the world, but it bothers me when someone says I'm lazy. I was complaining to him about the hours I'm working cause I am basically going to work and going to school without anything really in between…. and this bothers me because I'm just now being able to go out and actually live my life! Before I moved in with my grandma, I was basically confined to my house because my mom wouldn't let me go or do anything because I was a “bad kid and would get into trouble”. I am a full time college student and I just got my first job as a hired part time….. at least that's how it started out. Fast forward and the store I work at has only two people, me and my boss. So now I'm working 50-60 hours in two weeks.…
I Was Just Fired By Association
I work as a health care contractor for a few different companies and was hired on with a new company because my mother needed extra members for a team. We have been testing college students for COVID and commute for work. We commute about 230 miles round trip, and recently there was an adjustment to mileage. The company would no longer cover mileage more than 150 miles. My mother wanted the change to mileage in writing since it had been changed to avoid further alterations in the future since it would be a huge deduction to pay. However this was not the first change that had occurred while we working with them. The owner decided to fire my mother and myself after their phone call got out of hand. I had never talked to the owner of the company nor have I had any issues before this. I don't understand…
Not worth that much.
So, as the title says it, I had a DM tell me I wasn't worth much, so I proved them wrong. I worked for an auto parts store and was patient enough to wait an extra 3 months for my review, promotion, and raise. I finally got my review after my DM told me I couldn't go find another job that would actually pay me $15 or $18 dollars to start. At this point, I was making $11.50 an hour after 2 years and a 25-cent raise with a forced raise by another manager who stepped in and gave the whole store a raise. My boss refused to catch up and do reviews for any of the employees so I went above him and straight to the DM whom I thought was a good guy, turns out he didn't really care much either. I finally got my raise and promotion,…
Or is this just ny company? Just seems extremely dystopian to me that my company realized that the majority of employees are fine working from home (or even with a hybrid approach) and are now trying to make it about the perks of “returning to each other” rather than going back into the office (even though that's very clearly still what it's about) If this is just my company, might be time to find a new place to work lol
