Work at a chain grocery store in Cali part time since mid February of last year. Up until January I had been working 3-4 6 hour shifts a week starting at 10 AM, but then in mid January my boss started giving me only 1 shift a week for 3 weeks in a row. When I confronted him on the third week he told me my current hours (10-4) didn’t work for the store and that i wasn’t able to adequately get enough done with them. I work in unloading the pallets we receive and working the product onto the shelves, and the 2 deliveries for my department normally arrive at 9-10 and at 1-2. He told me that it would be better if I started to come in at 6 AM and if I was trained to help out in another (more infamous) department. I agreed as I wanted…
Ever since joining this sub I feel as though I’ve been somewhat brainwashed into believing that work as a whole is a terrible exploitative thing. Times have been getting hard for me and as I look at all of the negatives when it comes to looking for jobs, and “knowing my worth” when it comes to pay and knowing what I should be paid in regards to inflation. I applied for a delivery driver job for Amazon. I don’t know really how to feel. Does anyone else feel this way when having to pick between morals and having to survive?
Our whole ambulance company does this thing where when we go to hospital if we see another rig from our company we turn on the light and sirens when it’s off so when they get in and turn it on they get jumped scared by the lights and siren. It’s happened to us multiple times and we’ve done it to other people multiple times. Today we did it and they reported us to dispatch and the shift manger called us and was pissed. We tried to explain that everyone does it and we didn’t even know it was a big deal but the guy just said you guys were the ones who did it that’s all that matters. They said they are gonna write a written report and get back to us. I think we shouldn’t sign anything saying we’re at fault if they try to give us a write up. And…
Weekly schedule bull
Just venting. My boss always makes the schedule last minute and then never sends the schedule to us making us have to drive back to work on our off day to learn the new schedule. It creates a massive amount of anxiety and I hate having to drive back on a day I'm not being paid for just to get the schedule. Even worse is in my state there's no laws prohibiting last minute scheduling. So they just finish the schedule Saturday night, and then we're closed Sunday and I end up having to find out the schedule by driving in first thing in the morning to Monday just in case I'm scheduled to open and to get the schedule. totally bs
you want to end ALL work?
Hello, I have just stumbled upon this subreddit. From the title and description, I gather that this subreddit is about a movement to end all work. My question is, how do you expect society to function if everybody stops working?
New Boss & Tip Pooling
Hi everyone! So I’m writing this post because I’m new to the concept of tip pooling and I was informed over the weekend while receiving my first paycheck from my new boss, that when the other store manager returns from her vacation I will have to split my tips with her and the high schooler they are hiring for the summer. What the hell. And I’m the only employee with a college degree in my field of work that is the theme of this business and I make five dollars less than the manager woman who doesn’t have a degree and is my same age with less work experience. The job pays $15hr plus the tips, but the tips for my work are significantly more than the tips the manager gets during the week (I do the birthday parties alone which are two hour marathons so I feel it’s unfair…
I work currently as a pharm tech trainee at CatSpittleVomit and it’s only been a month. And everyone acts like I should know everything from the long module computer works that I did. It’s my first time working at a pharmacy retail setting and it’s just all new to me. And I was only trained once at “pick up” which is cashiering. And one time also at “production” which is counting and filling pills. Naturally I had a lot of questions and it was also a little overwhelming at first. The customers are also rude and condescending towards us about there meds not being filled right away and are very impatient. And they also cry over 1-3$ coupons Anyways the store pharmacists plays favorites and I can tell she favors people and it’s almost cliquey. Also passive aggressive and fake. She also compared me to a co worker who started…
