I work for a composite decking company. The facility is terrible, it’s reminds me of one of those pop up carnivals. Everything is barley put together, half working, and all full of tweakers and felons. When I first started there was a ton of overtime. Like maybe getting two days off a week because of the mandatory overtime. 12 hour shifts too which means you have to say goodbye to whatever plans you had that day. Whatever tho, it’s a factory and that what comes with the gig I suppose. Around a year in, I get promoted to leadership. Fuck yeah no more overtime for me, more pay and I have to do a fraction of the work (funny how leadership works right?). It was alright expect seeing first hand that all our “leadership” does is sit up in the tower and watch football and circle jerk themselves. That drove…

I feel dumb complaining about these things but they are annoying as fuck. When I schedule PTO I have to add to 3 seperate sharepoint sheets what day I'm off, when I'll be back, etc. Then I have to put it on teams, then my email inbox. And then I have to clock in 2 times a day and clock out 2 times a day instead of just paying for our 30 minute lunch. I know it's standard but our clock in/out system barely works. Then I have to seperate stupid emails from important ones for at least 20 minutes a day. I'll get emails that someone had a kid or some stupid work event that has nothing to do with any work. I have no interest in going to a sport event with my coworkers and I have no interest in going to “happy hour” and risk being inebriated…
I work with a woman who is grating on me because she won't shut up about how hard she works! She inserts into every single conversation comments these “woe is me” comments about how hard her job (business manager for a media company) is, how she has to do the jobs of the sales people and the GM's in other markets, how she came in during the weekend, etc. Yet she obviously wants praise and attention for doing these things, because she has been saying the same things over and over since I started five years ago. Not only that, but she creates even more work for herself by being a total control freak and “checking in” or reminding people about every basic task they already know they have to do, because they are veterans of their craft. I tried for awhile to give her that reassurance she craves, because…
I work retail. Opening shifts start one hour before we open the store so we can clean and get everything ready for the day. I am an extremely punctual person, and I have never been late to one of these opening shifts. My managers, however, the ones with the keys to open the doors, are never on time. They’ve been anywhere from 7-30 min late, and I’d say the average is about 15 min. I cannot clock in until I’m inside and can use the system inside. I know this isn’t a lot, I’m only really losing $3-4, but it drives me insane. Is this worth talking to them about? What do I do?
Got fired for unknown reason
As the title says. I was at work one days doing my job my manager called me into his office saying it is my 30 days evaluation. I thought I did a great job. He said I cut to the chase I am letting you go you done a great job but I am letting you go. this was on Friday and 3 so I was like do I still get my bonus for working the whole month. He said no since I don't work on Monday when the bonus come out.
everyone is hiring but no one is hiring
i just graduated college in december of 2022 with a bachelors in art. i know art isnt a degree that actually gets me huge money paying jobs. I switched from STEM to art because i was more passionate in it and I thought as long as I had a degree I would have an easier time at least getting an interview somewhere. I have applied to around 30 entry-level jobs since January. in my 1st 2 waves of applying I didn't get a single call back or answer. yesterday I did another wave of 6 applications and I actually got a rejection this morning atleast. I'm 23 now and my family keep yelling at me about not having a job and sending me applications for jobs that never contact me back. my mom is the only person in the house with an actual “decent” paying union factory job and she…
When recruiters don’t read your resume
Hi random indeed profile! I’m a Talent Acquisition Specialist in search of the best candidates for [hardware store]! In researching quality candidates, I came across your resume. I currently have an opening for a Fulfillment Team Lead in our [location] Store. Please read over the position description below and if you are interested go ahead and apply on-line using the URL provided. We look forward to having you join the [hardware store]'s team! Recruiter, I admire your enthusiasm, but I'd encourage you to look at my resume before sending me positions via message. I'm a data analyst with more than 2 years of experience in my field. If you have a data analyst or similar position open at [hardware store] I would be much more receptive, but frankly a sales associate position is far below my current paygrade and not worth my consideration. Best regards
Uhmmm…. or the other ways around?
Huel says drink your meals
I just saw this ad for Huel (the meal replacement/ supplement drink) saying functioning adults will only have time for fun if they drink their product rather than I dunno… having a four day work week?!?! Even England proved it with their 4 day week test. Like, 97% of employers (correct me if I'm wrong please!) Didn't want to go back. It even made them more money! I'm just sick of seeing these types of things subliminally promoting people keeping their heads down and degrading themselves for their corporate overlords.
This can’t be legal, right? (FL)
I work for a medical facility and copays haven’t been collected as they should in certain offices. I understand penalizing people who aren’t following up the way that they’re already paying barely minimum wage and they’re trying to take from it too
