2-3 hour wait time on an ambulance because there is an “EMT shortage” in my area. Wasn't surprised to find out that the average pay for EMT's here is $15-18/hour. I don't know where I'm going with this… but figured my frustration would be validated here on antiwork.

So I went into work on my day off to pick something up. I work at ~insert red-themed big box store name~ and I saw my boss had a list of new ‘rules’ we had to sign and agree to. Most of them make sense: no phones or AirPods on the clock, no requesting time off on the clock, no standing in front of the time clock waiting for a specific time to clock out. But what gets me is: use your breaks or before your shift to go to the bathroom, no bathroom breaks on the clock. I’m diabetic, AND have IBS. I have to use the bathroom a lot. I don’t let it be a problem, I wait until it isn’t busy or we have a moment or someone can cover me and I don’t go for a long time, etc. How do I say ‘no I won’t…
Forced Resignation
This is a weird vent/rant that I want opinions on. I work as an engineer in Colorado. On 2/4/22, I gave my notice that I would resign on 3/11/22. I’m pretty junior, but my position relies on a lot of built knowledge so I wanted to give my coworkers enough time to learn my job and not be buried when I left. I told management, I was wished well, we agreed on the date and moved on. I trained my successor, and they’re now fully capable. Our plan was for this to happen and for me to become a knowledge bank for the final weeks. Today, at noon, my direct supervisor calls me and says my resignation date has been moved forward to today. I ask if he’s firing me. He says “no, this is not a lay off.” I responded “well, I’m not resigning so, by definition, you’re laying…
The Capitalist vs. the Fisherman
When I hear mainstream media talking about Russian oligarchs, they associate that name with all the corruption that is typical for billionaires. We can use all that hard work the mainstream media has done and adopt that term for American oligarchs.
Would I ruin my reputation?
I code industrial machines for a living. All the machines that are purchased (whether it’s used, new, refurb, etc..) has code that is encrypted. (Non openable/readable) but the machine will always understand it. The main reason as to why these companies encrypt the code is supposedly because of the time and research that they dedicated to get the perfect formula. I was hired on by a medium sized company to code their refurbished machine. Would it ruin my reputation if I encrypted the code before walking away?
I work for an amazing small business that in the last 4 years I've been with them have grown into a dream job. They respect me, prioritize mental health (free care!), the owner is close to her goal for 2022 to be able to START new employees at $15, and they've helped me grow as a person and within the company. I now am in charge of about 10 people and I put mental health and kindness and values above all else. I encourage our work space to be a safe space and being a very LGBTQ+ environment, have helped many of people find their voice and accommodate their needs… …and now they're completely ungrateful monsters. They nit-pick and use my buzz words against me to get their way. I encouraged a democracy and all I have with them is a Parks and Rec town hall meeting… with more whining.…
