It sure would be nice if we stopped trying to label this group with anything other than antiwork. People can come in with no preconceived notions about political leanings. If they agree with what they're reading then they can contribute to the cause. Honestly the issues should speak for themselves without needing any labels, especially political ones. There are a ton of issues brought up in this group that can be agreed upon by people from all over the political spectrum. By identifying with a political group, we are needlessly excluding plenty of people who could potentially get onboard. Edit: To be clear: Just exclude political labels. Literally JUST DON'T SAY DEMOCRAT OR SOCIALIST. Even if it clearly is. Because plenty of people see the label and move on when they may in fact agree with the messages contained within. Be anti bigot, be anti racist, be equal rights. Just…

How to take an extended month off work?
Pretty much the title sums it all. I’ve been stuck working full time and going to school full time and I’m getting a tad depressed that I have 0 life. I am graduating spring and just want to go and travel for a month and see all of my friends. Any way I can take a month off work? Has anyone here tried this before and did you succeed?
Pizza by any other name….
I found this on NewsBreak – the #1 local news app used by 45+ million people: Tesla confirms it will hold what could be the largest BBQ in Texas history https://share.newsbreak.com/igkausp8
hating your job is cool. But is it a labor movement? Just started reading. Of COURSE the first protagonist is a Portland, OR transplant. I'm not sure why this is, but the NYT has had a Portland fixation for at least a decade.
Counter Offer
I am close to getting an offer from a position I have been chasing for last 2 months. The pay is better than what I am getting currently but most importantly a fresh change. There have been countless sleepless nights to the point where I stopped bothering about my performance and seriously hoped that it would be better if they fire me so that I won’t have to deal with this daily torcher. The issue has been shitty demanding clients, companies policy to never say no the client and meet deadline no matter what resulting in high staff turnover and increased pressure on the staff. Anyways, my boss is gonna flip as I have always been a good employee and low maintenance. He is gonna give me a counter offer and do everything to make me stay (I have some good clients who really like me and bring in huge…
And free therapy for everyone obviously. But required for management at least in their first year. Sessions stay private etc. Reading this site breaks my heart. Billionaires and giant companies are shit usually for their employees. But so much of hardship pain and suffering that everyone here goes through is due in big part to toxic people in management. From simple courtesy to empathy for employees to just making people feel welcome and part of a team at work. So much could change if managers weren't toxic humans. Management brings out people's strengths and weaknesses. And those weaknesses usually translate to abuse of employees. Even if half of the managers blow it off, if the other half dealt with their inner demons better and had more self awareness the daily work-life for so many would improve. Am I crazy?
Antiwork or Antihealthcare?
I've seen a lot of posts recently that seem directly related to healthcare and insurance. Although that's often linked to employment and has some relevance to the antiwork movement, it does seem like it addresses an entirely different situation that deserves it's own sub/discussion. I don't mean to diminish the importance of these issues, I just want to keep the topic of this sub relevant. And I do see the link between the health coverage benefits with employment. It just kind of draws the focus away from the main conversation. Gas prices also effect the average person's commute to work for example, but sharing pictures of the gas prices or receipts won't exactly benefit the antiwork movement. Otherwise, we might as well call this sub “the world sucks”.
Why is this sexual predator still a mod?
Antiwork: Who Is Doreen Cleyre? Sexual Assault and Rape Allegations, Doreen Ford On Reddit (showbizcorner.com)
I worked for a small after school care center from mid December until I just quit yesterday. I only worked 4-10 hours per week and was paid cash, under the table. Pay days were on Friday. The first two or three weeks were great and I was paid in full each Friday. Then she began paying me partial payments, promising the rest “when she could get to the bank”. She also began shorting me, somehow miscalculating my very small amount of hours. She would claim she still owed me $20, when it would actually be more. I would remind her of my actual hours worked and patiently wait for the rest. Two weeks ago I told her I would have to find a second job as waiting on my pay wasn't working for me. She said she'd give me more hours. (She didn't) Fast forward to last week. Not getting…
Worst Experiences from a Hotel Job
Been reading a lot of these stories and thought I wouldn't relate because I currently have a good job with benefits at a great company. But they did remind me of some of the really shit and abusive jobs I had in the past. One in particular at a well known hotel chain I thought id share. So, it was about 7-8 years ago during the summer when I was in college. My mom worked as a special events caterer, and said they needed a dishwasher and suggested I should work part time for beer money. Get the job easy enough, and am initially scheduled for a few 4 hours shifts a week, great! Immediately things start to go off the rail. My shift schedule quickly becomes 6am-?? like what the fuck is “6am-??”. ill tell you. Its when you're the only person cleaning the entire restaurant and when everyone…
