with the basic premise that rents, utilities, food, and other costs are all locked in and don't increase. Doctors get $30/hr. Lawyers, teachers, grocery stockers and cashiers, librarians, gas station attendants, CEOs and stock brokers… all have their pay set at $30/hr. Why would anybody do…? Septic work I'll grant you I probably wouldn't do if I could get the same pay stocking groceries at the store. But Trash removal or recycling work I might be okay with part time shifts. And maybe part time tutoring, and doing my art part time too.Spread my efforts out in different ways of contributing. But But But why would anyone go thrugh the years of hard work to be doctors and lawyers if they aren't rewarded for that with pay? You mean like teachers who coincidentally would earn more with this pay scheme ? Who not only go through years of training and…
Trouble with the bank.
Lost my job of 10 years in August due to covid, and terrible choices by the company owner… I'm now 4 months behind on my bank payments… I have a motorcycle , and a Nissan maxima financed through them at the moment. They call me 10 times a day, and have even called my parents that use the bank as well trying to get ahold of me (my parents have nothing attached to my account) I have a new job coming up, and was wondering… what can really happen if I just say Fuck you completely to the bank? Can I go to prison ? Should I keep driving this POS car I have through them or should I go park it in their lot and drive off? I'd prefer to drive it until the wheels fall off, but I do own a truck, and if needed my S/O can…
Fed up with my job
Sorry about the length! Let me start out by saying, I have always loved my job. I mean, the work itself has always been enjoyable to me. I started out making minimum wage, which was fine because it was just supplemental income and the work was ridiculously easy. This past December, my coworkers and I got a 75 cent raise (so I now make 75 cents over minimum wage). I'm pretty sure my boss did this bc he created a new position and gave it to a family member who is making much more than any one else. He had offered us additional hours but that was rescinded when said family member was hired. But I digress, my company recently purchased another company and we (actually, pretty much just me) are now making an entirely new product. It is much more complicated and took me a month in training to…
This is why I loathe working for someone. You’re expendable and they think they can do with you as they please without contest. I’m not even comfortable going to the SM about situations with the ASM who made the schedule change because there are rumors of them sleeping together. I’m prepared to go to HR or resign if not resolved. This is my attempt to contact the SM about the subject: https://postimg.cc/K4jC5hxq He responded by saying he can give me 1 more shift during a time in which I’ve made it clear that I’m not available.
There are no other jobs around and I have no car. I cannot survive off this job at 12/hr. The stress of money is destroying my relationship with my partner. I'm honestly considering just riding the disability train at this point. What the actual fuck am I supposed to do?
10 hour reset rule question
So im not sure if this is the right place, but today Im probably going to be working 15 hours + 9 hours and was wondering about the OT pay. So this morning I worked 3am to 8am, and Im now going back in to work 5pm to 2:30am. Since there isn't a 10 hour gap between shifts that 9 hour gap is straight overtime pay, as well as the 10 hours in my second shift, equalling 19hours OT and 5 hours regular time. My question though, is the last 2 hours in my second shift 1.5x pay or would that be 2x pay? Edit: I live in Texas
