TLDR at the bottom I apolgise as im writing this off my phone. A little context. I (18m) work for a hotel in a less than perfect area. We get a lot of sketchy individuals in and out. I have been working here for about 7 months and my manager (39F) has been there for around 2 years I do everything by the book and I do whatever im told. I would like to think im a great employee. I've built a friendship with all the staff and have a working relationship with my boss. If I get asked to cover a shift, I'll be there. However my place here and how much I felt valued was just put in check. About a week ago my manager handed my bag to a guest (by accident), who subsequently ran off with it. At the start of my shift our night audit…

I am a new construction house painter and am constantly dealing with picking up after all the other lazy trade employees who leave their trash in my way. No more caulk? Just throw that empty tube on the ground, f**k it painters can pick it up… Door jamb won’t fit? Cut the extra drywall out and just leave it there on the ground…duh…? Front door has broken glass panels from carpenter not installing door stop and door swinging open and smashing into the wall ten times a day? I’m expected to move/clean up all the broken glass, paint the broken door as told and then also the replacement when it shows up 3 weeks later (for free mind you, they only paid me to paint the one that got REPLACED). Drywall mudders got their crap all over the brand new hardwood floor, and it’s all on and in the grooves/wood…
Look at what's actually going on as the bosses care only about themselves and them making all the money and they have all the power so they use this tactic because they want to make you feel like working is a good thing for you. They want you to feel like your life is supposed to be shredding your skin off just to make scraps while the rich sit there do nothing all day, what they would call us lazy for and make money off of all of us because they were born rich and they get a free pass.
It was really a bummer, because I really enjoyed the work, and the people. We were building and repairing high voltage electric motor testers, which are in use in dams, bridges, anything that needs a gigantic electric motor. They didn’t disclose this to me during the interview, and my first few units were for local municipalities, and small niche electrical companies. That said I overheard today, someone talking about Raytheon, and asked to talk to my manager to find out if they were working with them. Come to find out, not only are they working with Raytheon on a rocket project, their primary customer base is Defense Contractors. I told him that I have an ethical and moral objection to contributing to the perpetuation of the Military-Industrial Complex, and could not continue working for a company that does not adequately align with my values. Immediately, he became defensive, telling me,…
Refusing to hire an employee on these grounds would be considered discrimination on the basis of religion.
i recently left my job because of retaliation from local management for reporting them to their bosses for ignoring sexual harassment of female staff by male coworkers and male customers. some of the women affected were minors, and the local managers got their asses tore apart for ignoring this problem. local management tore into my ass for getting them into trouble and began retaliating against me. after a whole month where i as a full time employee got half the hours i was supposed to i quit. the truth is i spoke to an attorney who listened to me, looked at my evidence and immediately said i had an excellent case for a settlement even in an employee friendly state like Indiana. i asked if he could take the case on contingency and he said they don't do that his retainer is 5k. FML i could get rid of all…
