I started at one of the franchise owner's locations for $9.50/hr + commission. I eventually started working at the call center he owned that took calls for a few different locations. The pay for the call center was $10/hr since there's no opportunity for commission. But since I was splitting my time between the call center and the spa for 3 months, I stayed at 9.50/hr. The call center started taking up more and more of my schedule, meaning I wasn't making the extra pay and also wasn't making commission. Best job for semi-disabled 23y/o?
Idk where to post this, but here I go l. Lurk here often and love the movement! I'm a 23 yo male, living near Dallas tx, currently pursuing a degree full time. I saw a sign at a quik trip recently offering 19.50 an hour and was amazed! But I'm worried that because I have back problems, it would be an issue long term. It's amazing what shitty management can do. Ever since I was a kid I wanted to be a journalist. I wrote for the school paper all through high school. I interned at the city paper, and even wrote some articles that were front page. During my junior year my voice changed and it turned out that I had a decent radio voice. Some might say a face for it too. lol Either way, I started angling to go into broadcasting, and majored in it during college. Fast forward a few years and I was offered a job at the local radio station network where I grew up. I already want to quit
I've only been at my new job for a month and I'm ready to run. It's not bad but they expect a lot without much training and it's freaking me out. I have a history of anxiety and depression with ADHD diagnosed. This job has made my anxiety be a 10/10 for the last week even though it's 'easy' compared to my last one. My husband finally got a new job after months of unemployment and even though he hasn't said anything I know he's upset I'm that my anxiety is so high. I hated my old job but I wish I had never taken this new one. Even with the pay increase it just does not seem worth it.
Just annoyed. Every year they push productivity goals which is fine. However it’s hard to be productive when you have to do “self development” work as a directive from leadership. So on top of the normal job I have, do well, and am perfectly content doing for the foreseeable future, I now have to do this extra arbitrary BS work. I’m not anti-work per se, but have always thought management honestly doesn’t know what to do sometimes so they pass down stuff like this as their flavor of the month. So so dumb.
Today's post reports is on a company called progress residential. They use an algorithm to buy houses within hours of it being listed, are terrible landlords, raise rents, and charge huge fees. I'm still listening, it promises to get worse.
Double standards
I went 1 USD over budget for working from home equipment. Received an email about it saying they will allow it this one time. Same person who rather books a hotel nearby work so he can be in the office earlier, than drive up and down from home (1h)… and claims it in full.
Asked to interview with 10+ people??
TLDR: Company blows off initial interview only to ask candidate to interview with 10 people. Job has been posted for 9+months (red flag) Applied to a job within my field of expertise that had been posted for 30+ days on LinkedIn. Got a reply from the recruiter within a few hours to set up a time to talk about the role. Day of call arrives and I have spent some time prepping to ensure I present my best self. Call time comes and goes, with no call. I check my email and see that 1 minute before the call was scheduled to start the recruiter emailed and said the position had been filled. I do not reply and go about continuing my job search. About 10 days later I see the same job has been posted again on LinkedIn. It takes about 10 more days for the recruiter to reach…
