My husband owns a semi truck, and he has a contract for delivering to stores out of a nearby distribution center. It's a lot for him to unload by himself (40,000 pounds) so I made a job post for him on indeed, for somebody to ride along and help unload. We were honest in the post about the job, and transparent about the wage and hours ($150 per day which is pretty decent for manual labor in our area). Pay every day. We got a ton of applications. my phone was ringing off the hook. Hired a guy and he shows up on time even though the truck leaves early in the AM. Works hard, nice guy, eager to learn about the business. this 'labor shortage' is a bunch of bullshit!! those 'nobody wants to work' signs should say 'nobody wants to pay' Keep holding out!! don't take low wages!!…
Did someone say “strike”?
Sounds about right
Ice cream shop in Seattle gets it.
Get a job.
Rarely worked
I'm 46 and waited tables from 1999 – 2005. I walked out with well over $100.00 dollars cash per night. I would work 15 hours and have my 1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX (turbo charged all wheel drive) payment. Minimum wage was $5.25. I was making seven times per hour what fast food workers were making. I could go back to a fine dining establishment and make 20% gratuity. A chick I know makes close to $2000.00/week. We live in SC, there was no pandemic here. Anyway, I haven't worked since 2005. How's that for antiwork?
Imagine being lazy. That fox news interview sure did a number on this sub. Reminds me of the animemes situation a couple of years ago.
