UPDATE: I posted the below about a month ago. I am happy to share that I accepted a fully remote job for 22% pay increase. I put in my resignation notice this morning via teams. My boss’s reaction was as expected: cold, short, and quite obviously pissed off. She even said that I “it’s not all about the money” good lord. I said it wasn’t personal and we ended the call. It does hurt my feelings as I’ve done a lot for the company but life moves on and I’m excited to start my new job. Previous post: I love my job but I cannot stand my boss. She micromanages, gaslights, and speaks to me like I am a child. I am a salaried employee with a job that requires little to no oversight. She got worse since COVID because we moved to WFH and she lost a lot of…

Year End Bonus…Hell Yeah!!
After a long year of working many 60 hour weeks, our project management team expressed their gratitude to the team by giving us all $100.00…credit…to the company store. Don’t get me wrong, I needed some new chip clips, but seriously WTF? And yes I know it’s better than a kick in the pants.
I get emails about “opportunities”. Never pay. Their perceived perks. Past 6 months i decided to respond Li recruiters( from now on referred to and LIR): 1a. blah blah lead hook blah job skills and other requirements when can you meet? 1b. It is partially remote but requiring relocation. Or 80%travel. Me: either 2a. Reply 1 week later bc im not in a symbiotic relationship with my personal email that is mainly spam. And no response 2b. Thank you for reaching out. I am currently seeking employment that accommodates (does not require re location/remote)- usually thank you for your consideration no elaboration just a response withing 5 min 2c. This sounds like a great opportunity id love to learn more. Please provide salary range (or equivalent) and any additional information pertinent.. no response. Recruiters and talent folk piss me off. Talk to the fucking company. Or give me something. Im…
I remember listening to an interview of CEO from 5 years back. Forgot the company name but it was in top 3 best companies to work for. He was asked what makes your employees so happy when majority of companies can’t. His answer:- For our management our employees are customers. If we keep our employees happy they keep our customers happy. He said we don’t ask employees to work overtime at all but they do just as a favor because they are treated so well. If you treat your employees well they will go way beyond to complete their work. It is a simple maths we keep our employees happy, they keep customers happy which in turn generate good revenue so investors are happy. He also said managers are happy. Happy employees means happy managers. Such a basic concept yet 99% of companies fails to understand it
So I just posted a screen cap of this tweet to the subreddit and it did cause a bit of a stir. The more I watched arguments unfold, the more I realized how harmful the discourse I had brought was. It caused infighting, doctors v janitors, and a minor community divide over who “deserved” more. It was one of those things that just distracted from the bigger picture. I'm making this post partially to bring attention to that, and similar posts. I'm also making it to say appreciate damn janitors. Cuz wow. There was quite a crap ton of disrespect and undermining the work that janitors do. They do more than just mop. They risk their lives to save yours, I hope you all realize that. The shit (literally) they're exposed to and expected to clean all the time, the way they're heavily overworked… It's not easy. I saw a…
The comments on the last post I made were right. I just scammed 10 hours of work 6 of which were overtime. So I lost 242 bucks and that's a lot for me (16). What should I do know? What can I do?
https://www.reddit.com/r/antiwork/comments/spm1fx/i_was_walked_out_of_work_today_because_i_said_the/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf Is a good example of this. New account, huge spam of posts in the same day. And not even really responding to people other than “Thanks” “yes it’s true” “I found another job already” This feels like another wave of the karma farmers who know what the sub gets riled up for, and just keeps flooding the feed with nonsense
Hahaha. *sigh.* *mumbles “Fuuuuuuucc.”*
NZ minimum wage is now $21.20.
The minimum went up by 6% to keep in line with inflation. The “living wage” is currently $22.70 per hour (but is due to go up shortly.)
