Rohnert Park Teachers Union
Rohnert Park School District is holding students and teachers hostage. The dedicated teachers are working without a viable contract. The proposed contract only includes a 7% guaranteed wage increase over the next 3 years and one time “bonus” of $2K. This is while housing costs in this community have increased by over 20%. The current rental cost of a one bedroom is $2,263. Most of Rohnert park school teachers have more than one job, they often bartend, coach, work at local breweries, etc. These educators love their students but this exploration must end. Rohnert Park school teachers are eligible for state and community subsidies for housing! These teachers must have a degree and be credentialed to be in the classroom yet they are living in poverty. At a time when school teachers are offered pennies the administration has continued to increase their salaries, as a % of salary per head…
I just quit my job of 5 years at the casino. Started as a dealer in training, left as they forced me to become a boss and would not let me go back to being a dealer. I also trained 80% of the staff on all table games , was lied to by my boss saying he isn't hiring anymore dealers . Then he started two new dealers on my days off and didn't even have the audacity to talk to me after reaching out to him multiple times. I feel every job I have I put way to much into for low level money. I'm tired of putting years into companys with no opportunity for salary advancement or recognition for my work put in. I had 5 days left of my two weeks at the casino. I called and said ” Seeing that after five years of being there…
Using a throwaway since I have a couple coworkers who know my main. TL;DR: I'll be leaving my job of 7 years in the Fall to study/travel and am looking for any and all advice to financially prepare for it. I'm a 32yo male living with my girlfriend of many years in CA. I didn't do particularly well in undergrad, nor was the degree especially valuable, but still got a decent paying corporate job 7 years ago and today make $80K. My gf makes roughly the same. I'm currently in my 3rd term at an online university pursuing a degree that will help me transition into a new career altogether with solid long-term prospects. I've decided to (most likely) quit my job in the Fall so that I can (1) study full time and finish earlier, (2) travel to Europe for a few weeks relatively care-free, and (3) relax a…
Thoughts on punctuality?
Thoughts? Why do people focus so much on punctuality? Punctuality seems to trump quality of work and going the extra mile. To clarify, I'm talking about being 5-10 mins late, not hours. They don't care how late you stay, but just get there on time or earlier. Why? Especially if it doesn't make a difference to the day's outcome. It just seems very trivial to me, and in my opinion good workers shouldn't be completely written off for this superficial shortcoming.
