So my prospective employer insisted on doing a verification check with my current employer after making an offer on contingency of that. My manager just approached me this morning to talk about it. Today my boss shouted at me for no apparent reason, and said some hurtful words. It actually hurt me a lot but I still didn't said anything. I apologised for my “mistake” and didn't argue because I am afraid of getting fired and as always bosses are always right, right? What would you have done in this situation?

Great Question to ask interviewers
Are you paying me for a certain amount of time, or are you paying me to complete a certain amount of tasks? If it's time, I will be present for those X hours each day but don't expect an extra minute–unless we want to increase the pay. If it's tasks, I will complete said tasks quickly and efficiently. Don't expect to pile on more–unless we want to increase the pay.
