Everyone else at my hospital literally got 2 Hershey kisses and a paper saying we care. I feel so appreciated. Dishes still need to be cleaned, rooms still need to be cleaned, laundry needs to be done. And all they get is 2 Hershey kisses.

Here's the extended version: “Now, though this state of affairs would be quite compatible with some measure of individualism, yet it would mean the euthanasia of the rentier, and, consequently, the euthanasia of the cumulative oppressive power of the capitalist to exploit the scarcity-value of capital. Interest to-day rewards no genuine sacrifice, any more than does the rent of land. The owner of capital can obtain interest because capital is scarce, just as the owner of land can obtain rent because land is scarce. But whilst there may be intrinsic reasons for the scarcity of land, there are no intrinsic reasons for the scarcity of capital.” -John Maynard Keynes When he says, 'State of affairs', he's talking about post-scarcity. Start Organizing Votes
Been following for a while. I am just as angry as everyone else but sitting on reddit being angry isn't going to change anything. I boycott when and where I can but we need to start finding the people that will fight for us in official forums. Vocal minorities can win votes. We need to identify workers' party candidates or at least ones favorable to our cause and get them elected. Start small, local offices, whatever you can find. Find those names if there are any and share them with this sub. We need to find and support people that can make our lives better. Letting old people elect other old rich people isn't going to help us. I haven't begun searching in my area, just had this idea and wanted to share.
Does WFH = Be careful what you wish for?
I mostly just read and lurk here, but the topic of WFH has me scratching my head a bit lately. Every time I see a comment or post about work from home being a benefit (I do agree), I can't help but think it carries a big downside risk. If companies are forced to admit that their staff does not need to be physically present in an office, what's to stop those companies from hiring new people in lower cost-of-living locations who will happily do that work way cheaper? What if, after a while, that company (or more likely its shareholders and investors) eventually decides that WFH is working so well that people in other countries who will work for even less will be lining up to apply? What if those bosses who are demanding people return to the office aren't doing it for their fragile egos, but instead because…

I (43yo) have been job hunting for the last few weeks. I am unemployed and have no income. I have been on several interviews and have even declined a couple jobs. My job history and experience had me in a career where my average pay is in the $25-30/hr range. Not spectacular, but where I live I can afford everything and have some savings My boomer parents have on more than one occasion gotten on to me that I need to just take the first thing I'm offered. This came up after they convinced me to apply as a cashier at the local dollar general. I figured if they matched local cashier pay in the area ($15/hr) it would be a decent stopgap until I got something in my field. After the interview they offered me a cashier position that paid $8.20/hr… I was shocked. (Probably shouldn't have been) I…
