I love my father more than most people in my life, but I have been having a lot of trouble relating to me in the last few years. He is constantly arguing with me about how I shouldn’t complain about anything, and that his life was much more difficult. My father grew up in a country where his college education was entirely free. When he got married, his parents gave him a free apartment for his family and a free car. He was able to retire early, paid off his mortgage in the US and now lives in Europe where he has inherited about 1 million worth of property assets from his family. As I said we are all in this together. This isn't some “sigma grindset” my life is harder than yours gatekeeping BS. However some of us don't work in jobs where working from home will literally ever be an option, nor will a 4 day work week. Most of the things I find people fight for tend to only pertain to those who work in an office environment, or generally speaking sits at a desk. I wish there was more we could do for everyone else. I work in a factory, I need to be there, I can't fix machinery from home unfortunately. People can't be a server from home, people can't be plumber from home. You get the point. I'm overworked, and it doesn't seem like there anything that can be done for people like me, and anyone else is a remotely blue-collar, hands on field other than maybe…

So, after 4 attempts of convincing my boss I need a mobile pair(iPhone and Android) to test our company App(Mobile Banking App) I was refused because to ask for it I was required to show results. A little ambiguous because I guess I needed the tools in order to do the work and show the actual results. My disappointment is because other teams get this devices without hesitation, but my team is required to do a migration from IBM Broker Flow to Rest Quarkus Microservices for the back end services which this App uses. In order to test that I would have to wait for another team to include this in their backlog and prioritize it. Given their sponsor doen't care about this migration since is something of interest of IT VP and not Electronic Channels VP, it would take way longer to be included in a Sprint and thus,…

I don’t know why most of the Human Resources can’t be honest with the applicants and that’s shitty

I work emergency services. I help save lives on a daily basis. I take very stressful calls that give me stress dreams and make me anxious in everyday life. We JUST got overtime pay instead of comp time. My husband and I are finally able to take our first vacation in 3 years. I worked 6 days in a fucking row 10-12 hr shifts just so that we’d have a little bit of spending money (not including the other 3 days I worked 10-12 hr this last 2 weeks). They took out my husbands insurance again this week ($300) and then didn’t pay me my overtime (around $200). The whole place is going to shit. There’s only 8 full time employees. 1 recently was fired, 1 is quitting, 2 more are thinking about quitting, and the one that has already quit has enough dirt on our current supervisor to get…
