I work at a well-known educational services provider, and I have an interesting story to tell. I was taken on in December to assist with the spring registration rush, and now that the rush is over I was offered the opportunity to move laterally into another department. This new job has two versions; if I maintain temp status, I remain at $12/hr, but if I go for “permanent” employment they're only offering $11/hr. I specifically avoided doing the jobvite requisition because it would reduce me to $11, and they sent me an onboarding document to sign which had the $11 on it. I reached out to a member of the hiring team and flat out said “the rate on this document is not what we discussed” Still waiting to hear back lol

I don't know how much longer I can keep this up. My life is falling apart around me simply because I don't have enough money to keep up. My job doesn't pay me enough to live, and things in my life are falling apart. My health is deteriorating fast and I absolutely can't afford to see a medical professional for every problem. I'm having to pick which pains I can tolerate and which I can hope to lessen. But I've also had my car “robbed” (catalytic converter stolen), and I don't know if I can afford to get it fixed. I'm in agonizing pain but I can't afford to see a doctor about it, because I had to spend money on dental work and the ability to see. Who do I complain to? This is ridiculous. HR is full of excuses as to why she hasnt mailed it

I work 7am-5pm at a family practice with a pretty big organization. It's been a year since I've been here. I'm always having to stay 30min-1hr late and sometimes my lunch gets shortened (or no lunch). I work 9 hour days, granted I get 1 hour lunch, but sometimes I end up working 10 hour days (sometimes no lunch) for 5 days of the week. If the providers don't come looking for me at 5pm, I check the schedule to make sure nothing would possibly be needed and if all is good I leave. But that's only to come into work the next day with my boss telling me about provider's complaint that they came looking for me at 5:20pm or so and I wasn't there. I know this sub is US-centric, but here is something from Poland: A guy admitted on twitter to firing his employee just because he has 5 children, and his unemployed wife is on benefits. He lied about reason the guy being fired to have a cover for laborinspection service.
