It is insane that corporations are allowed to buy tens of thousands of houses and then sit on them to drive prices up. Shelter is a basic necessity I am tired of acting as if this is at all fucking normal

Threatened termination for not buying product from the company I work for

I work at a new car dealership and during a conversation between some of the people in the service department and our general manager, buying cars as employees came up during the talk. I have been employed at this dealership for 9 years and during that time there has been no thoughts about repercussions if I were to go to another brand/dealer to buy a car. With how crazy the turnover rate is in dealerships, the GM in this story has only been with us for around 2 years. While talking at the end of the night last night, the topic of buying cars came up, when it did our GM mentioned that if any of his employees were to go to another brand/dealership to buy a new car they would be pretty much fired on the spot. Rent is not going to go down.

Complaining on the internet is not going to lower rent. If we really want to see a change ,something drastic is gonna have to happen ,as a collective. 2020 would have been a perfect time to do a no rent “protest” so to speak. We have the power. No one should be working two jobs to keep a roof over their head. They can’t evict everyone js 🤷‍️

Just turned down a job offer for not paying enough. Feels amazing.

Over the past few years I have, through working my ass off, acquired a skill that, although not much in demand, nonetheless gets me a steady-ish flow of freelance work (I earn very little overall, but the per-hour rate is now very good). I've been trying to get a full-time job (I want the security etc, especially as my partner and I want to start a family), but I'm not willing to compromise on pay. I know what my time is worth. I went through an extended interview process with a company that I know is very large and has a lot of money. The job required a specific skill-set and was highly creative and difficult work. I could see that the average salary for that job in that country was very high. At the end they finally offered me a job, but low-balled me heavily on the salary. I…
