Company’s exist for a profit motive.

Company's are motivated by money, most company's make bank and most jobs in the UK don't pay enough I have seen jobs for 20k a year in a city in the UK. I do know that is not enough to live on monthly, what about Hard work? Hard work does not guarantee a raise. What about starting a business? In my own experience It's hard to make money for most people in the marketplace a product has to be different from the other product with good branding. I was brought up poor, I educated my self on business and how to run a legal entity and keeping up with the company accounts. Most people that are well of commonly have been at the company for 30 year's and most of them own houses that most people can't afford because wages in the uk aren't keeping up with the cost of…

Boss won’t pay me for 25 hours of work…

So for context I (22m) work at a powerwashing company. I’ve quit before because of shady stuff happening (raises/ bonuses not materializing) but was offered $20 an hour to return part time. Well I did and there was a lot of work for me to catch up on. I am one of the most productive of our team (5 people) and basically do any extra work that is asked of me. I didn’t really mind especially because work slows down during winter. Well a few weeks ago my coworker called me saying that he convinced the owner to let us plow snow under the company’s name. Well here starts the shit show…. When he asked me for help I asked what the pay was and he said I’m not sure yet I’ll talk to the owner more, but $25 at a minimum. Great! Then we were charged xx2.5 for the…

Mobile App Designed to Solve the Gap

This seemed like the perfect place to reveal this solution. I apologize for the granularity of detail, but I thought it was important to make sure this is done correctly. After several months spent racking my brain, I have come up with a mobile app currently under provisional patent and in the early stages of Droid/Apple development that is going to attempt to solve several existing socio-economic issues we are currently facing. 1) The city you live in doesn't give a shit if you can afford to live there. 2) The creditors of your bills don't give a shit if you can afford to pay them. 3) The wage gap is widening and the cost of living is increasingly untenable. 4) Citizens serving critical roles in our day-to-day society are being marginalized and the corporate endeavor of replacing them with automation or workers desperately willing to accept less is progressing…

Looking for references

I completed my BA for Graphic Design & Media Art with a con/ UI/UX design. I've been looking for jobs since then and the “experience” requirement is killing me because no seems to accept school work as experience. Anyone willing to be used as a contact for past employment that could help me out a little just to land some entry level foot in the door position? Feel free to DM me. Thank you!

Question for those that have returned or going to return to the office after temporarily working remote

What excuses have your employers given for having to go back to the office? Since working from home I have finally found a perfect work/life balance and my mental and physical health has greatly improved. The company always said from the beginning that it was a temporary thing, and just recently there's rumor of a set date now for returning. I can't help but get anxious everytime I think about having to go back. I have even been considering looking for another job that is remote so I don't have to go back to that lifestyle. While some employers have embraced permanent WFH, I can't understand why others refuse to even consider it. My employer constantly sends out updates about record breaking gains in different aspects of the company. If we are doing so good, and some may even say better than when we were back in the office, then…

Direct Management berated me for a mistake so insignificant it changes absolutely nothing.

Berated might be a strong word, but I've dealt with passive aggressive people my entire life and honestly I'm fucking tired of it. A little bit of backstory: I work in cash transportation, specifically an armed guard. I sit in the back of a truck all day and only get out when I'm delivering money, servicing an ATM, or using the restroom. In my eyes(if I was management) I'd consider myself a model employee with a strong work ethic. I don't call off, I don't miss work, I show up early and leave late(I don't do this because I want to, I do it because I was raised in the south and it was ingrained in me that if I wasn't working I was a lazy bum. I don't have this viewpoint for anyone else but myself. This is still pretty fresh on my mind and I want to get…
