Background: Working at Vermont Information Processing for the past 3-4 years. Software Engineer 3 and great relationships with my coworkers, top performer, etc. This morning around 10AM me and a few coworkers had the idea to create a form that would feed into a spreadsheet so that developers could (if they wanted to – anonymously) post their salaries in order to be transparent in the development department. Within an hour, my gmail account was disabled, and shortly after that my macbook was remotely disabled. I always wanted to post my story, and figured now was a good time. About 8 years ago, 2014, my wife and I (20 years old) had our son in March. Knowing I would need to provide, I went job hunting. I settled on a chip factory that my mother-in-law had been at since the doors opened. I started as a packer, working my way to a cook by years end. I took on every responsibility I could, even going as far as being the trainer, even though I was essentially the newest cook.
