Hope this is acceptable. Just caught up with a friend I was manager of who reminded me of how she got the job. We had a requirement for a person to manage a heap of data via spreadsheets plus data entry into a large online database that was not user friendly interface. I put in the skills requirements to HR. Just skills and experience were critical, no qualifications were relevant. HR dick put in standard minimum qualifications because that would ensure skills. I could not get it changed. Get the applications and all but one had the qualifications but no experience (young). One had years of relevant experience but no qualifications (older). I scored her high, HR dicks wanted to throw her application out for no qualifications – and both had a reputation for always going for younger recent graduates. Lost the argument and ended getting a smart talking kid.…
It has made me rethink whether I should be busting my ass on 12 hour days at a startup, or whether I should take it easy and spending more quality time with my kid? Experiencing loved ones die, and seeing how quickly it can all end, kind of made me refocus my lenses a bit.
This guy didn't lie about experience he lied about essential skills. He's a PROJECT MANAGER….knowing how to use BIM, Autocad, Revit, etc. is a basic requirement in his industry. Do you know how much money is wasted, how many hours of extra labour people working under him and how long delays on projects are if someone like that screws up? He is the one who approves everything – do you know how many times major projects go to hell because of people like that not being able to do the basics right? And lets say mistakes don't get picked up – the repurcussions down the line can be awful. It's not like “oh the PM, messed up he can fix it”. People working under PM's are the ones who get ****** because they're the ones who do the actual heavy lifting! Even if they don't screw up they 'delegate' work…
Death to the 40 hour work week.

Not getting my w2
Rightnat the start of covid i lost my job, and i took a job as a bed bug exterminator. I was so glad to have a job during covid that i put up with alot of shit. Shit like i was forced to leave thanksgiving dinner with my family b.c my boss had lost his key to his home. And i hat the only copy. Boss was shitty, always late on checks, super late on w2 blah blah. Fastforward to I quit and got a new job; all I need from him is my last w2. I texted him on feb 1st asking if he was able to send it and my updated address; to witch he responded he would get right on it. Bear in mind at this point he is already late, w2s are required by law to be post marked by the 31st of January. It is…
How Often Do You Fill Out Applications?
Are you actively seeking a new position? If so, how frequently are you applying?
Does not happen very often. I worked at a rehab center as a therapist. When reaching out to clients to assess them before arrival we were required to call them and no work place phones were provided. Anyone else have stories like this where their workplace expected them to provide the tools for the job?
