Kinda just want to quit now tbh
So I’ve been quarantining the 4 last days due to having Covid. I’m currently STILL symptomatic and have tested positive 2 more times since my initial test last Wednesday. My job has been blowing up my phone telling me to suck it up and come in because they’re shortstaffed. I told them I’m still sick and still displaying symptoms and they told me it doesn’t matter if I have gone 24 hours without a fever. My absence is an inconvenience to them. Mind you, I don’t receive PTO or any type of compensation for the time I’ve missed and THEY’RE the ones being inconvenienced!
I’ve been feeling very sick for the past few days with dizziness and nausea (non covid related). The place I work at has a culture where employees work as much as possible and stay in the office as long as possible. Management makes you feel guilty if you miss a day or if you take off an extra 30 min early for family matters. I’m currently in graduate school and I have a speech to give today as part of a project, and I find myself feeling guilty I have to skip it, just like I’d feel guilty about missing work. It makes me feel like I’m too lazy and I just need to suck it up and go in anyways. It’s a bizarre feeling and more kids in this country need to be taught that health comes first.
Thanks for your hard work.
I flip burgers and sauce wings at my job. Yesterday was the super bowl. I had to cook and sauce over 400 wings in the first hour of work and then it didnt stop until I got off. After cooking hundreds upon hundreds of meals for people how can I not even get a free meal or even afford to have a warm meal myself? I have to go home and eat peanut butter on toast everday. Working here for the past 4 months in total I've only received $32 in tips. Honestly how much longer can society live like this? I know I'm not the only person living this shitty existence! If someone is cooking food for thousands a day, how can I not get something to eat? Fuck!
We need a revolution.
Obviously US based, but this is outrages, how our country is treating workers, teachers, our rights, automating learning, furthering capitalism. They want more control and it’s coming unless we do something
Being told not to leave the country.
I recently got engaged and am wanting to get out of PMC work for my personal safety and for the emotional security of my soon to be wife, so I signed on as an armed guard for a local security company; During the hiring process I told them that I still have one contract left in Northern Iraq on the 27th of February. They said it would be no problem and just to inform my direct supervisor and operations manager. This was in November. I have at the beginning of every month since then reminded my supervisor and operations manager that I am leaving the 27th for my last contract after which I'll be coming back to the company. Today I received a phone call from HR telling me that if I leave the country the 27th for my contracted rotation that I will forfeit all benefits of employment (which…
